Bio
Droghedas Huey And The Hobgoblins have spent the last 3 years transforming from a fledgling 3-piece to a venue-packing 8-piece blues/folk/retro-pop band. Their love for great music and good times soon cemented a lasting bond between them, which has become a visible part of the band's live performances. Taking inspiration from their many and varied influences such as Crosby, Stills and Nash, Rory Gallagher, The Meters, Muddy Waters, Lalo Schifrin, The Band, Gomez, Miles Davis and Bob Dylan, The Hobgoblins have sculpted their sound into something somewhere between Paolo Nutini and The Commitments, with a blue note thrown into the mix. The 'Goblins have already taken their unique live sound to festivals around Ireland such as Electric Picnic and Oxegen, making a name for themselves as a crowd pleasing good-time band playing catchy, upbeat and orignal tunes. Both of the bands independenly funded and released singles went straight into the Irish Top 50 in their first week, and they've earned regular gigs in venues like Dublins Crawdaddy and all around the country, and seem to gather more momentum, believers and friends every step of the way. "Grade A musicianship...splendid guitar, catchy chorus' and jazz-lite feel" Jackie Hayden- Hot Press "These boys have really been listening to their Steely Dan." Ronan Collins - RTE Radio 1 "One to watch, and a must-see new band at this years Oxegen festival" Clare McKenna - Spin 103.8 Fm "They really got the tent going with their bluesy rock sound" External Sounds Electric Picnic review 2009 "A red-hot band with all the ingredients for a future right at the top of the music industry" The Drogheda Leader 2010 -
