We are a group that was inspired by Juan Mann's free hug video and believe that we could take this idea further, possibly (hopefully) on a world-wide scale.
Why? Well, first of all, there's a lot of things wrong with the world. A lot of things. We would like to have one day in the year where a lot of people can get over thier differences and just reach out to each other as a show of peace and cultural compassion.
Also, technology allows so many ways for people to communicate with people; why not take advantage of that to create a world-wide movement towards a better, more peaceful and tolerant future?
When? September 9. Remember the date!
Where and Who? Everywhere and everyone! We're trying to get people in every country all over the globe to get involved.
Can I do it? Please do! In fact, we're going to ask you to help us! Spread the word; this won't work if no one knows about it. Mention us in your blog, your signiture on any webdomain or forum, emails, whatever; we need all the help we can get!
Also, if you are interested, check out our Cafepress store! We also appreciate anyone willing to make designs or give ideas for us. No profits will go to the Hug Day team; all profits gained from the Hug Day store will be kept and then donated to a proper charity as seen fit.
AMERICA IS ADDICTED TO OIL! Extreme chaos and destruction from global warming, a looming peak oil crisis threatening economic collapse, or a national security nightmare brought on by an overdependence on foreign oil. You choose the reason... the time to ACT is NOW!
