My favorite hobbies include hiking, swimming, nature photography, exploring caves, keeping up with the news & current events, collecting LP's, CD's, & books, surfing the net, camping, watching TV, & mountain climbing....
MOUNTAINS I WOULD LOVE TO CLIMB :
(These are listed from highest elevation to lowest; roll mouse over pic to pause page turning)
Everest, anybody?
No, I'm not an experienced climber, unfortunately....not yet, anyhows!
- - - - - - - -
I would also love to learn more about the following:
- - whitewater rafting - - scuba diving - - hang gliding - - skydiving - - how to play the guitar / bass - - become a half-assed decent cook, (yeah, right! LOL)
&
- - ride a horse!
Speaking about riding horses, I have a dream of going back to Glacier National Park in Montana & spending @ least a week out in the back country there, climbing peaks & hitting the trails one day.
My father & I went there once when I was either 12 or 13 (around 1974 or '75) & I wish I could re-live those moments over again: & doing so the next time by doing more than just staying in the car (OK...yeah, I did make that climb up Triple Divide Peak by myself -- w/o my dad's help or permission - but I wasn't able to complete the climb to its summit due to the steepness of the rock, my youth & inexperience, & a lack of climbing equipment; but I got pretty damn close to it nonetheless)!
I got a whoopin' once I made it back to the car, 'cuz of my running off like that - - my dad was all worried that something may have happened to me, & rightfully so: I wasn't aware that I was hiking right out in the middle of grizzly bear country...& even if I had been, I doubt if I woulda cared, 'cuz I wanted to climb Triple Divide Peak! But whoopin' or not, I still have the pics to prove that I WAS THERE...now if I only knew how to put them online!
In addition to all this, I am a dedicated NBA fanatic....I LOVE professional basketball, & it's the only major televised sport that I care about.
As you can tell, I'm proud to say that I DESPISE THE L.A. LAKERS!
....& before I forget,
THANK GOD ISIAH IS GONE!!! He may have been a tremendous player, but he TOTALLY SUCKED as a coach!
Music
There is no doubt that I get into music BIG TIME. I am an avid CD & LP collector, altho I have switched to collecting CD's exclusively these days....my CD collection is getting close to the 2100 mark as of November 2009....& is continuing to grow!
I like rock & roll, jazz fusion (some call it soft jazz), & I am just barely beginning to like country a lil bit, but not a whole lot.
There are several varieties of rock & roll that I listen to:
1. Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Hardcore, & Industrial:
(Here are 25 of my favorite bands w/in this category right off of the top of my head...& there are TONS OF OTHERS that I can't even begin to count!):
Heritage Christian School

Graduated: 1980
Student status: Alumni

Chris THANK GOD I have finally made it back home to Little Rock! Good bye Ft. Smith, I ain't gonna miss you! Posted at 6:05 PM Nov 14 view more
I was born @ Sparks Hospital in Ft. Smith. I moved to Little Rock when I was a baby due to a job transfer for my father, who worked for the U.S. Corps of Engineers @ the time. I lived in "The Rock" until I was about 20 yrs old, when I moved to Van Buren for a few years.
I went to Meadowcliff Elementary School in southwest Little Rock from the 1st to the 4th grades, then went to private schools 'til the 12th grade 'cuz my 5th grade year was the year that the federal courts forced busing on all public school students across the country (all in the name of "desegregation" & "integration", of course).
The problem was that my house was only ONE HOUSE AWAY from my current school -- I walked through the Kanyuh family's yard, crossed Sheraton St., & I was @ school! But all of a sudden my family had to deal w/ my being bussed over to the rough / crime-ridden side of town a good 10 miles away in the Granite Mountain neighborhood. YIKES!
That's when my parents decided that I should start going to a Christian school, & I went to Heritage Christian Schools from grades 5 - 9. I then went to Park Place Baptist Academy for the 10th & 11th grades, but that school closed, so I graduated from Bingham Road Baptist Academy in 1980....& check this out: my graduating class had only FOUR students, one of which was a junior taking both the 11th & 12th grades so she could graduate a year early!
I went to work for Waffle House right after graduation & worked for them for almost 5 & 1/2 years. Most of it was in North Little Rock, but I also worked in Van Buren & was the Manager of the store in 1983. Overall I worked in a total of 14 stores in central & northwestern Arkansas- - Waffle House was / still is (???) notorious for having problems w/ employees not showing up for work or quitting w/o leaving any kind of notice, so I was the one that they called to fill in for the no-shows.
I then decided to go to college in 1986, where I went to the U of AR @ Monticello, where I 1st majored in Forestry (which required no minor) but later changed my major to Biology w/ a minor in Chemistry.
I consider myself to be a somewhat shy & mellow guy, one
who disdains violence of any sort: I don't even like to argue or raise my voice 'cuz I think that rational adults should discuss their problems in an honest, loving, & reasonable manner. Sounds simple, right?
Call me strange if you will, but I consider manners & showing respect towards others (especially women & the elderly) to be important, too: should a guy be called a nerd if he still says "Yes ma'am" to a lady, helps her down the stairs, or opens the car door for her...after all, that's the Southern way!
MY HEART IS IN LITTLE ROCK & ALWAYS WILL BE!

Deep inside, I am still an " '09er" (i.e., one who lives in the 72209 zip code, which covers southwest Little Rock):
This WAS my lovely house down in Little Rock (on 9 Sheffield St., to be exact):
OMG! Notice how the new owners have torn up the patio deck... & now the front yard has turned to shit!
HOWEVER, I just bought a new house in the Meadowcliff neighborhood in southwest Little Rock....& it just so happens to be in the same neighborhood in which I was raised! Here is a pic of it from Google Streets:
I will eventually take some pics of my own before I move in & post them here in an album like I did w/ Buttons.
I AM SEARCHING FOR MY OLD COLLEGE BUDDIES from the University of Arkansas @ Monticello (from back in the late '80s to early '90s):
