Hugging the Shoulder...
Derrick abducts his big brother, locks him in a van, and drives him across the country in a desperate bid to get him off heroin. But no matter how fast they drive-- no matter how far they go the brothers cannot escape the demons from their childhood nor the self-destructive love for the woman who has come between them.
Next Production: July 24, 25 & 31 & August 1, 7, & 8 at 8:30pm. Performed in the parking lot behind Hope Artiste Village 1005 Main St., Pawtucket. An entire audience cannot fit in the van, so we have decided to trap each audience member in their own car by creating “Drive-In Theatre.” Theater of Thought has joined forces with Elbow Deep Media to create a multi-media event. While live action takes place in the van in front of you, a live video feed will show projected close-ups of the actors. Flashbacks will be portrayed in previously filmed scenes, and all of the audio will be transmitted through each audience member’s car radio. Audience members should request reservations through reservations@theaterofthought.com. Requests should include number of guests and number of cars. Theater of Thought will reply with a confirmation via email, which will include directions to the location.

I had no idea 'Hugging the Shoulder' would be received as well as it has, that it would be embraced by audiences so passionately. To write it was a catharsis, to watch it seems to be a similar experience. My deepest gratitude to all who have opened their hearts to this play. Thank you.

Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who has ever held so tight to something they thought they'd die.
The plays went well and now I'm doing "Erik XIV" by Strindberg with a cool group down here that only does socially relevent plays. I've been thinking about submitting "Hugging" to the Artistic Dir. at Southern Rep to read. They only do new plays and are our only equity theatre. It's worth a try. I know the artistic director pretty well and I think she might like the script. How are you? Still writing amazing plays I hope...
I loved it!!!! I know a great space and I'd love to be a part of putting it up in Detroit. There is a new space called the Hastings Street Ballroom, very raw, holds up to 200. I just did a show there it would be perfect. Jerrod you are brilliant.....loved it!!
Well fantastic!!!!That's so exciting! Do you know that Michigan has the best film incentives in the country!! Shoot here and you can save$$$$$. Check out the Michigan Film Office website. Oh, and when you get a sec, I'd love to read the script!
If anyone coming across this page missed the Fringe Festival Production, you owe it to yourself to see the reading on Dec. 14th. This play is important and SHOULD NOT BE MISSED!
