People often ask me, why did you rename the show
“Sink or SURF Thursday”
? Well, I wanted to add a new pizaz to the show, beyond just another open mic. So I asked other comics for possible name suggestions. The first one I got was “brutal amateur comedy night Thursdays” and I thought that was a little rough and lacked a zing! Then I got “crash and burn Thursday’s”. Well that was a little better but I wanted something more positive. Then I got “how about you call it terrible comic after terrible comic to the point of where I want to place a shotgun into my mouth… Thursdays?”, and I said, “listen Mark Whitney, that is enough suggestions out of you!”

About Me:
I am an electrical engineer, and I do stand-up comedy. I realize that is a rare combination since some of my colleagues..... well let's just say I'm the funny one. Originally from Peterborough Ontario Canada, then made the big move to Toronto, then Bellville, then Thunder Bay, then Edmonton, very briefly in Saskatoon, but now I now live in San Diego California USA. Basically every move I made for the past 6 years was bringing me closer to the North Pole.
I've put my time in.... I am never leaving San Diego.
Who I'd like to meet: Lynne Koplitz who is one of the funniest female comedians I have ever seen. Dan Naturman because he was the real winner of Last Comic Standing season 2. Eddie Murphy, Bill Cosby and Chris Rock and Louie Anderson all who have had a big influence on my sense of humor. The creators of South Park Trey Parker and Matt Stone, these two continue to impress me with their satire. I would like to meet and get drunk with Jay Leno, Mike Myers and U2, because they are all legends.
In general I really like meeting people who are doing stand-up because it was a calling. The world needs to laugh and I'm doing my part
