    Hugo was born in a little Norwegian mountain town called Kongsberg but grew up in the famous Norwegian city, Bergen, on the west coast of Norway. When he was sixteen years old he went to the "Most Northern Part of the World", Spitzbergen, Svalbard and spent approximately two years in Longyearcity. That’s where he started his career as a guitar player and vocalist in a local band called "Chivas". Once again he left for Norway began performing in one of Bergen..s hottest cover bands in the eighties: “The New Loco Band.” Soon afterwards Hugo was asked to play lead guitar with the group “Highway Connection”, which was the backing band for the Norwegian country artist Teddy Nelson, who at the time was recording with Skeeter Davis in Nashville. Later on, Hugo started his own group and met with the Norwegian country artist, Arne Benoni who used Hugo..s group as his backing band. Hugo worked with Arne for 17 years. It was during this period that he also performed with Skeeter Davis, Johnny Russell, Bjøro Håland, Connie Smith, Leo Jackson, Lucie Diamond, Jimmie C. Newman, Jim Pierce, Arly Karlsen and many others as a bass player and back up singer. Hugo Risan is also a song writer and one of his recordings, "Hello Darlin..", made it to Number: 2 on The European Country Music Association (ECMA top 100) with the Norwegian Country singer Arly Karlsen. Hugo has traveled in Norway for twenty years including tours in Germany, Switzerland, USA, Greece, Denmark, Sweden. Hugo and his band are enjoying nonstop success as they gather new fans everywhere they perform. Not only are Hugo’s vocals unsurpassed but he’s an excellent entertainer as well. Hugo Risan..s debut album "Finally" is now available in the marketplace! Check out this great country voice from "The land of the Fjords", Norway!
