If time travelling is your dream, then take a 5 minute journey, just over the bridge at Waterloo and head for a retro paradise in middle of Kennington Road. The pounding rhythms drawing you south will be coming from HULA BOOGIE! - a monthly Sunday night of floor stompin' vintage music which has been drawing in savvy retrophiles since 2003. Based in the tropical setting of London's first retro, and by far the kitschest tiki bar in London: SOUTH LONDON PACIFIC, you can almost imagine yourself in a scene from From Here to Eternity.

From the first glimpse of the huge wooden tikis at the door you know you are entering something very very different. This is no tea dance! As you pass along the bar you are likely to pass customers in Hawaiian shirts, bowling shirts, tea dresses, sunday best, not quite a time warp but more a homage to the era being celebrated in the music being played- all sampling at least one of the cocktails from the extensive vintage cocktail menu.

Organised by DJ MISS ALOHA,HULA BOOGIE brings you the best vintage music from the 1930s to the 1950s for your listening and dancing pleasure from best specialist DJs from England and abroad as well as occasional live music and entertainment with the best burlesque performers to add a bit of cheek to the later hours.

Novices can pick up a few steps at the beginners jive class the start of the evening, (you can also sign up for one of their short courses held during the week if you get the dancing bug!)Then hit the floor for dancing to the best tunes from 'til 1am
PLUS you are also given the opportunity to learn to do the Hukilau Hula dance - the first and only place in the UK to teach you to hula!
