About me: The Hula Troop Nordeast
will be performing for Queertopia at Intermedia Arts on June 26th, 27th, & 28th.
The Nordeast Hula Troop would like to personally invite you to contribute your sweet sexxy hula hoop moves for a film being shot in and around the blessed heart of MPLS this summer.
How do I get in the film?
Simple. Drop us a line via email, myspace, telephone, or friendly work visit and let us now when you have a free hour to twirl your little heart out.
What should I do to prepare?
If you have a hoop, and want to work on some moves before hand, please
feel free to experiment with mind altering routines.
If you haven't hula hooped in ages, thats all right too
we aren't looking for simply the best, but everyone. This is a Community Building Exercise in core exercise. All Skill Levels (and lack there of) Are welcome and expected to contribute
What is shooting going to be like?
It will be you, and probably just Tyler, the camera person, at a MPLS destination of your choice, (If a favorite MPLS location in not applicable to you, Tyler will choose the destination that will be both visually stimulating as well as congruent with your personal style). There will be a boom box playing some inspirational music to get you in the mindset that you are having fun, but hopefully this will be redundant. Feel free to bring along your own music (TAPES, TAPES, TAPES-please) to motivate the optimism out of you.
What, on earth, do I wear for such an occasion?
Ultimately, we think you should choose an outfit that best represents your personality. If you like easy comfortable living, jeans and a t-shirt is more than appropriate (try to steer clear of brand name logos; we aren't making a commercial for Old Navy, now are we?). If you're a big leather daddy, wear your favorite harness and assless chaps; if you wait tables and hate it, wear your uniform and sweat it out. Business execs, wear ties and power suits. If you want to be really cool, dress up as flamboyant as possible - go all out - the more color the better. But mostly err on the side of comfort and mobility - your main goal should be to wear something that will be conducive to showing off your hula skillz.
Any other questions should be directed here, or there... Whichever strikes you as appropriate.
This project is scheduled to take place over the course of the summer, so if your availability is less than flexible, don't fret. There are still two whole months left to squeeze in an hour of hooping!

About GODLESS:
A show about atheism from the point of view of someone raised in a strict conservative catholic environment who, at age 13, began to reject his own family's faith, organised religion in general, and eventually, the notion of god. Rarely discussing his atheism in youth for fear of the typical annoying attempts to "save" his soul, and gradually finding like-minded individuals and information, but finding most material on the subject too academic and a bit dull. In his second full stage show, Jaime Carrera addresses several hypocrisies of the church, from the convenience of god's forgiveness in confession, to love thy neighbor though god hates fags, equating atheists with satanists (who worship another imaginary entity), and the ever-popular "fear of god". Mixing humour and performance to create a pop art version of blasphemous fun!
