This is experimental, atmospheric, instrumental Progressive Rock. I’d say it’s somewhere between Pink Floyd’s stranger moments, Opeth’s softer moments, and Kaki King’s acoustic playing and minimalist compositions.

- Armen / The Metal Observer

When you listen to a band as talented and creative as Augury, you tend to check out the other projects the band members have been involved in. Here we have Humanoid, a side project of guitarist Mathieu Marcotte who chooses to do something completely different, something closer to post-rock, ambient and classical. How successful the attempt is, you can only know when you listen to it as words cannot define the beauty of this release. All I can tell you is that it is definitely beyond what you can imagine or expect.

- shantanupatni1991 / Metal-Archives.com

When one thinks of ambient music, especially in the rock genre, one thinks of calm and composed background music. ... Though, at times calm and serene, giving the listener a feeling similar to that of sitting in a field watching the cloudless and calm sky there is for the majority of time a sense of underlying tension, strong and uncontrollable turbulence and disturbance. The atmosphere leaks of chaotic confusion and turmoil like that of someone lost in endless catacombs thriving desperately to get out and the point black inability of someone to comprehend and understand what stands in front of him.

- Vaibhavjain / Metal-Archives.com

A unique and wonderful acoustic album with some heavy stylistic additions of progressive metal. As he also displays with his main line of work in Augury, Mathieu Marcotte's ability to create celestial spacescapes within this realm of music is truly uncanny.

   About Humanoid

Originating from Abitibi, in the north of Quebec, Canada, Mathieu Marcotte started playing guitar in 1990 at the age of 14. His growing passion for both metal and classical music inspired him to compose with electrical and classical guitars at the same time. After putting together a few compositions, he decided, accompanied by local musicians, to form the death metal band “Spasme”, who during their 7 years of existence, were know by touring throughout Quebec. Two recordings were produced by the band, that is to say the demo “Traumatism” (Indie, 1995) and the album “Deep Inside” (Neoblast rec, 1999 / Galy rec, 2001).

2001 marked the beginning of a new era as Mathieu chose to quit the formation “Spasme” to concentrate on the elaboration of a new group. It is with the collaboration of experimented and talented musicians from the Quebec metal scene that he founded “Augury” in 2002, an extreme/ progressive/ metal band. Weaving a musical style proper to themselves, “Augury” is noticed internationally with the release of “Concealed” (Galy Records, 2004), album which was worthy of a nomination at the MIMI’S gala in Montreal and an excellent reception from critics, medias and fans of metal music throughout the world. Two Canadian tours took place thereafter with “Quo Vadis” and “Unexpect”, respectively in 2005 and 2006. During this intense period where the band played many shows, they took the time to record a “promo-ep” consisting of two new tracks and release the European version of “Concealed” on Adipocère Records.

A research of sound, combined with great musical curiosity, led Mathieu to develop an idea in the beginning of 2006: Set-up an acoustic project combining all of his progressive, classical and metal influences.

“HUMANOID” , is the new instrumental solo project of Mathieu Marcotte. On this album, the guitar is treated as an orchestra creating dynamics and textured effects which interweave with one another. These acoustic / space / metal songs with varied influences such as: “Cynic, Pink Floyd and Opeth” are enriched by the collaboration of these guests:

Dominic “Forest” Lapointe, from the bands “Augury, Quo vadis and Atheretic”, on fretless bass. Chaoth, from the band “Unexpect”, on 9 string bass. Tommy Mckinnon, from the band “Neuraxis”, on percussions and weirdnesses.

Also:

Martin Lacroix : Cover artwork. Michel "Away" Langevin : Inner illustrations. Hugues Deslauriers : sound engineer/ producer.

CountryHome Forum, http://groups.myspace.com/CountryHomeMagazine , is one of the biggest Forum for country music in Europe and part of CountryHome, www.countryhome.de , Germany's Premier Online Country Music Magazine.

CountryHome Forum have more than 5,000 members. Each news you submit to CountryHome Forum will released to my weekly Newsletter with more than 50,000 readers.

Please submit your artist news and events to CountryHome Forum to help your artists to get well known better in Europe. If you do not have the time to submit your artist news and events by yourself, please send it me to: Ch.Lamitschka@t-online.de and I will submit them by myself to CountryHome Forum.

I know that many artists from North America don't have their music videos uploaded to German video websites. The most popular websites are MyVideo.de and ClipFish.de. That means your European audience does not have the chance to find them.

I understand that most of you don't speak German and are not able to upload videos because of the language barrier. If you would like me to upload your videos to the German video websites, please let me know.

Thanks

Christian

I am now recording for a new set of releases called the "Persona Series". These cassettes will be commissioned works (not by content, but by payment) for individuals. If John Smith in London, England wants his own Zebulon Kosted album, I will make a 45 minute album (one side of a 90 minute tape), 2 hand drawn mini posters, I will name the album after him (Zebulon Kosted - John Smith), and the fan will retain all rights to the recording (for use of any future release, sampling, or broadcasting rights). One copy of the album will remain in my personal collection, and one will be sent to the customer, so that the only copy that will be in circulation will be John Smiths copy! Each album is available for the ridiculously low price of $10 (not including shipping), and will be shipped in its completed form no later than 6 weeks from the date of purchase!!!
