That was the problem ... The record label couldn't figure out how to market a band that didn't sound like someone else
calling all HR fans to St. Cecilia Academy this weekend, Nov 16th and 17th @8 p.m. and 18th @ 2 p.m. for the production of "Thorougly Modern Millie" with none other than Peter Hyrka on violin.
You will dig it...as will Elvis(if he picks up his ticket at the box office).
so this must be the "i have seen them" comment string.....
West End, Dallas TX. have no clue when, early 90's.. went to see them with a cousin of the bass player, great, great show. lively, energetic, and a free tape to boot, I still have that freaking tape, the cover is taped together and my now nearly teenage kids love the sound. Since then I think I have heard that violin sound in more music.. I think a lot of bands copied that sound you guys proudced... anyway, long time HR fan, great to see you guys (as a band) somewhere...
Thanks for the add! Human Radio is definitely one of the most underrated bands ever... All top-notch musicians, I still can't believe they didn't make millions.
Thanks for adding me! I'm a long-time fan. I remember watching Peter on local Memphis cable access some years back, it was a music show hosted by an older lady who didn't really seem to be into much modern, and especially rock music. I remember Peter trying to explain Human Radio's style to her - he was so polite! And then she asked irritably, "Well, what kind of music do you play, son?" One of my favorite moments from local cable access tv...
