About me: In the spring of 2007, a small group of dedicated students of Human Rights at the University of Connecticut organized an Awareness Week with hopes to bring the notion of universal human rights to every student on campus. The week included two speaker panels, a film series, a Fair Trade Coffee Night with live music, a No Sweat Fashion Show with sweatshop free clothing from several different manufacturers, and ended in an all-day HUMAN RIGHTS AWARENESS FESTIVAL with more than twenty local acts. The week was so successful that the organizers decided to bring all of these fun, exciting events to universities across the country, to raise awareness of basic rights, as well as provide oppportunities for activism on all levels. We are therefore pleased to announce the HUMAN RIGHTS AWARENESS TOUR, at universities across the country, in the Spring of 2008.
Who I'd like to meet: Bands, models, artists, poets, and activists with passion. If you would like to be a part of the tour, please email us at humanrightstour@gmail.com.

Please Do Not Forget Them... Remember Them on World Refugee Day... June 20th
Angelina asks us not to forget them, the “most vulnerable people on Earth”. The UNHCR has been my personal charitable organization of choice for years now. On the 20th think about all of refugees around the world and thanking Angelina Jolie for being such a tireless champion of refugee needs and rights and for using her extreme fame to draw attention to the people who most deserve it.
World Refugee Day on June 20 - Real People, Real Needs
World Refugee Day is an opportunity, every year, for people around the world to raise awareness and understanding in their communities about the plight of refugees.
Help us spread understanding and awareness about refugees on June 20th... ~AA~
Was the motive behind the invasion of Iraq anything other than the arrogance on the part of the possessors of wealth and power? Did they represent the countries of the world? Have they been mandated by them? Have they been authorized by the people of the world to interfere in all parts of the globe, of course mostly in our region? They have not even allowed their people to oversea or monitor their financial policies. They introduced all laws and regulations in defiance of all moral values.
Ex-Black Panther Rejected by U.S. Supreme Court in Murder Case
By Greg Stohr
April 6 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Supreme Court rejected an appeal from Mumia Abu-Jamal, a former radio reporter and Black Panther whose conviction for the 1981 killing of a Philadelphia police officer sparked international controversy. The justices, without comment, left intact a federal appeals court ruling that upheld Abu-Jamal’s conviction, turning away his contentions that prosecutors sought to exclude blacks from the jury. He was convicted in 1982 by a jury of 10 whites and two blacks.
The case is Abu-Jamal v. Beard, 08-8483.
Just a small change (Changeless change) Real change that you could believe in' would be an end to Empire, and an end to wars for corporate greed, not just a change of the shade of the political managers. That change, I'm afraid, is still to come. - Mumia Abu-Jamal
it is not the passing of the years
but the ripening wisdom of living
it is not just a toll taken
gut a well of receiving and giving
it’s not just the people come and gone
but the heart’s many faces and forms
it’s not just a weathering of skin and bone
but a weathering of stalls and storms
it is not just the luck of survival
but the brave conquering of strife
it is not just the passing of so many years
but the gathering of love and life
in the name of his imperial majesty
