As with many bands, we were just friends who liked to jam. Anthony and Dan asked Mark to come over and jam, and the seeds were sown, so to say. That was what, 2002? Around 2003 or so, Harmonica Joe came on the scene, new to town but had been friends with Mark, both fans of Blues Traveler. They had corresponded since 1998, trading shows, sharing love for the groove. Mark told the boys he knew this harmonica player who would sound great with us, and thus the first and only incarnation of The Grass Band was created. With a single hack of the blade, a new, organic, drought-tolerant Kentucky Blue Fescue came from the soil and deposited its loins upon the earth known as Humboldt County, California - from where great things come. Sharing a love for music, the four have forged a journey on creative expression through the power of sonic energy. Taking unabashedly from their influences, they have "Grassified" every thing they touch, creating a sound that is uniquely them, but also appealing to the masses. Watch out, The Grass Band is going to grow on you.....
