Go on, I dare you, nay, implore you to do so. Because ...

Rosy Tin Teacaddy have just finished recording our new album at Lee Prebble's studio The Surgery. Frankly it's a little ripper, we're really quite proud of it. Entitled The Homeward Stretch, it'll be available April 1 2009. Find out all about Rosy Tin Teacaddy here .

Excitement!

Busy times are ahead for the Hummel. I'm involved in new Wellington collective 'The Woolshed Sessions' ... gonna be good times and certainly great music! Click here to check it out.

I'm Dead Happy.

I'm still making the odd electronic weirdness. It's nice.

Recent work includes remixs for Pitch Black's album Frequencies Fall, The Tom Bosley Experience, and a sneaky guest appearance on Rhian Sheehan's beautiful new album Standing In Silence - one to watch out for.

If you have the notion your music could endure the hummel remixing touch please drop me a line.

Okay

Hope you are well. Whoever you think you are.

::andy hummel::

what i say:

this is a sphere of possibilities, improbabilities, complexity, simplicity.

this is the disassociation of mind, music, melodrama.

this is where the dream finishes, reality is suspended, and peices of the puzzle perpetuate.

this is where i hope, urge, cajole, force, beg, borrow, steal, delight, retreat, scream, whisper, hum, roar, sputter, vibrate, generate, destroy, find, and lose.

this is making sense from the senseless

this is audio alchemy. by a self taught chemist. with a blown out bunsen burner and a dirty old test tube.

i am a bricked up window. a jagged edge. a cushion of insolence. an impressionable friend. a murderous co-conspirator. a passionate fool. an unfeeling bastard. a smokeless gun. a naked liar. a barefaced beginner. a pretentious flirt. an embarassing flush. an emotional retard. an optimistic cynic. an excuse. a habit. a shot in the dark.

i am a crack. a wedge. a scurry. a blink. a furrow. a petal. a brush of a cicada wing. a flight of fancy. an uncomfortable collar. a lap of luxury. a fireside chat. a walk in the park. a rainy day. a hot chocolate with soy milk. a silver bullet. a cyanide pellet.

what they say:

hummel is a well established wellingtonian purveyor of orb-style dub ambient and frippertronic guitar treatments. he combines field recordings, broken beats, atmospheres and acoustic guitar in a live audio collage, weaving an intricate blend of folk and glitch-click electronica into an organic latticework, from downbeat to beyond.

He has experience in playing and writing music, in both bands and as a solo artist, as well as presenting works of theatre and performance poetry, but is perhaps best known as either additional vocalist for pop-experimentalists Cloudboy, his live work with Rhian Sheehan and his remixs of the Black Seeds, Rhian Sheehan, and Pitch Black.

"a sonic journey from lo-fi beginnings through spoken-word samples, live guitars, gentle songs, and techno-static. experiments never sounded so fruitful."

Sharkweek - Egyptian Lions, 2008Sharkweek is proud to announce the launch of his new album, "Egyptian Lions".

The new album offers lush soundscapes punctuated with surreal samples, playful melodies and manipulated found sounds. The musical themes drift between ambient, pop and dub.

Spheres of inspiration include outerspace, all manner of pop culture, and infomercials.
Musical influence comes from varied sources such as The Orb, Future Sound Of London, Orbital, Boards Of Canada, Lemon Jelly, Astralasia, and Banco de Gaia.
This eclectic mix, coupled with some stellar guest appearances from other musicians makes for an evocative and sometimes surprising listening experience.

"A mystical journey through lands afar ... trippy soundscapes, psychedelic ambient dub, futuristic space adventures and glitchy electro pop .. an ear orgasm of sounds that twist and turn evolving into a collection of songs that is intriguing, beautiful and a dose of epic electro trippiness.

Hello Mr Hummel! Looky, it's a CD with your work on it!
The Tom Bosley Experience - Remix Picnic album, 2008REMIX PICNIC, 2008
The Tom Bosley Experience are proud to announce the launch of their new album, Remix Picnic.

Our sound has always held a curious niche within Kiwi electronica. Tracks have ranged from the poppy-joyous through jazz improv to darkside with a self-loathing edge. On the way we’ve met and mingled with similarly minded musicians and gained a few friends on the way.

It’s here that you can hear the outcome of those friendships in the form of remix tracks by a number of the artists we’ve come to know.

Included are the destructive noise of Sick Cycle, Romantech’s trademark intelligent DnB, the electro-punk stylings of rising star SoNic Smith, kitchen-sink downbeat from Sharkweek, lush electronica from Stray Theories, the glitchy melancholia of Hummel, and the glacial dub experiments of Thalidomide Dog.

Please visit the Tom Bosley Experience Myspace page to hear tracks from this album.

Purchase directly from us for NZ$15 in New Zealand or US$15 outside New Zealand. Postage is included.
