One might wonder why anyone with Social Anxiety Disorder would strive to perform stand-up comedy.
It turns out DeWayne is a bigger masochist than he is eager to share his misery. Basically his need to be in pain outweighs his need to be in misery. His "Humor from Dysfunction - Laugher for Life" isn't just a comedy styling, it is a philosophy for life.
DeWayne was born into a life, family and world marinated and stewed in dysfunction – an alphabet soup of physical and mental dysfunctions! He has been blessed to share his Dysfunctional Soup with all types of diners, in all types of environments and always seems to have enough for leftovers.

Influences
Perhaps it is part of my Dysfucntion that I feel comfortable speaking and performing to all types of groups but have difficulty with 1 on 1.I love every group I have "shared my misery" with but I am tired of the Group-Groups because they can't go home and tell their friends about me. Comedy, Humor and Laughter are tools for acceptance, change and empowerment. I cannot help but utilize those tools when I perform Stand-Up Comedy (Duh I better be funny there!) and also while speaking on topics like HIV/Drug Prevention and Awareness ( I am after all the perfect example of what NOT to do)and Motivation/Inspiration and Change-( just consider My Reciepe of Dysfunction and how I do not consider myself limited but made better by each one)
I am not a DO-AS-I-SAY-NOT-WHAT-I'VE-DONE kind of speaker! I am a HEY-LISTEN-DO-NOT-AS-I-HAVE DONE and DO-AS-I-DO-(NOW) kind of speaker.
Even though my life sucks I am honored to share it in so many ways.
Oh I hear them calling my name for lunch "Pity, party of 1" Just kidding.
I do not pity myself- I just laugh along with life as it keeps trying to make me into a "Pity Party of one" Either way I have to share my misery. My influences were many as a child and only occasionaly watch other comedians since I started creating my own brand of Humor from Dysfunction and Laughter for Life. All I can say is THANK GOD that LIFE SUCKS!!!

General
It is not my place to waste my energy condemning or condoning any particular belief system. They all are good because, for those who believe, their life is made better by their beliefs. I choose to waste my energy proving Life Sucks (Thank God). I have always been on a path of acceptance and personal growth. Comedy has helped empower me over things I have felt powerless against. Including various Diagnoses like BAD, RAD, SAD, SAD2, HIV/AIDS,Addiction, Recovery, Abuse and so much more. Still everytime I face a new challenge I hear my own higher power say "P.S. Make Me Laugh!"
I strive to do that in every quarter of my being through all my personal and /buisness relationships I try to remain unforgettable, humerous and enlightening. ANd when I go to my reward I hope my Creator says "well done- now makeme laugh!" AnNd I will say "Well Thank You that Life SUCKS"!!! (And I thank You for the misery and the perfectly imperfect world which allows pain to become laughter, laughter to become empowering, and empowerment to be self-actualized.

I love it all - especially if it has a good feeling or message behind it. Still I'm not fond of Old Country beacuse I never heard a happy country song and growing up and it calmed the cows fbefore milking. Old Country might calm the Savage Beasts but I have no intention on being milked.
Movies
I only buy used DVD's. I don't have cable because it's not available living betweennowherensomewhere, California and not quite sure if iIm closer to Heaven or Hell. AND I can only afford to buy used Dvd's because they don't depreciate, I pay what they are worth, and I get to pick from the dregs of the lot! *********I KNOW I WOULD MAKE A GREAT MOVIE OF THE WEEK "THE EDGE OF WETNESS" LIFE IN THE HIGH DESERT!!!************

Television
I don't have cable so all I get is what the rabbit ears can catch. Basically FOX, PBS and TBN are my choices.Sure I learn something from each of them but I find it difficult to admit.

My favorite author has had a numer of poems published on the world wide web. He has been working on a book all his life and his poetry seems to have some following albeit electronically.( SO it is difficult to find proof that he has a following).His book has been in revision for 47 years and will be called "P.S. Make Me Laugh - a post script from the Divine".
Named so because whenever the author faced a new challenge,
dysfunction or diagosis he would hear his God, the Divine Creator,
whisper in his ear "P.S. make Me laugh!!!
Once he finds a great ghost writer with more than just great spirit and aspirations then he will GIT ER DONE! (Thanks Larry- love ya!!!)

About me: I am MORE Than a SURVIVOR, I am MORE than my FAITH, I am MORE THAN I SEEM. Just look at SOME OF the ingredients that are included in my Dysfunctional Soup-
Addict in Recovery- (it took years to recover this reseipe)
BAD- BiPolar Affective Disorder (BAD sounds better to me)
SAD- Seasonal Affective Disorder (OK now it's BAD N SAD)
SAD2- Social Anxiety Disorder (double the sad)
RAD- Reactive Attachment Disorder
(OK so now we got the RAD, BAD and doubly SAD)
Now we add-
ADD- Attention Deficet Disorder ( good thing I got this receipe)
then add a touch of
Dyslexia (stir until you prove there really is a DOG)
Fold in-
1 year of Chemo-Therapy
20+ years of HIV Chemo-Therapy
10 years of phych therapy
and
3 long doses of physical therapy
Mix together with love saying 3 times (a million)
YOU ARE PERFECTLY IMPERFECT
bake internally until you are ready to pop
when cool-
sprinkle on some misery, truth and faith
serve to as many as possible
and pray it is well tolerated
and remember- there will always be left overs
(and the occasional new add-in)
Thank God that this meal Sucks!!!

I realize that I have always used humor to face my challenges.
From being bald in high school to looking like a 47 year old baby - to picking my parents, survivng my name and feeling I fit in in California.(you peeps are nutz)
