The band was founded in early 2002 by the guitarist/vocalist Mauro "The
Zero" Izalbert and the objective in the beggining was making metal with
"political" lyrics always through a metaforic and strong language to
make people who listen think about questions of our world.
They recorded a several EPs without an expressive impact ..till 2005
when the "when the truth lies" single was released, at that time
Hunger was diferent, modern and more criative. This single took Hunger
to important gigs at the state of São Paulo- Brazil, sharing the same
stage with icons of brazilian metal like Torture Squad, Transfixion,
Subtera, Shaman and a gig with Cilice from Netherlands.
They played at some little festivals , typical of brasilian independent
bands and took home some prizes like the second prize (or lose the
first prize) in "aurora music festival" in são paulo, a festival with
more than 100 bands, and Mauro took the "best performer" in a rock
festival at Indaiatuba.
With the "When the truth lies" single they were invited to have this
track in two compilations: " Extreme Underground Vol.3" produced by
Avernus Records and "Intensive Metal Vol 2." produced by Chave do som,
where Hunger was appointed the high point of the compilation.
In early 2008 for personal and financial questions , Mauro "broke up"
with the other musicians and Hunger took a break for a months.
In October 2008 Mauro Izalbert invited Michel Pereira ,his friend and
ex- guitar student to form a "New Hunger", "zillions" of musicians were
invited , but no one believed in this 'new Hunger".
One day in that same month, Mauro was helping producing other band at
HP records studio and talking to Aldo D..Isep(Producer and owner of the
studio) about the situation of the band and they thought about
Fernando Schaefer (Korzus, Endrah, Rodox, Treta, Pavilhão 9) record the
drums for Hunger. Aldo invited and Fernando accepted ;the record
sessions began in November 2008 and in a slow process, the song "Demons
in White" got finished and the band was totally diferent than before:
new style, sounding heavier, tecnic, and original , either in the
surprising arrangement with Cello and Violin in the song.
But after the song was made and recorded, Hunger needs musicians to
complete the "new Era" , and after a long searching they found Israel
Santana , a great and strong - style playing on drums and to complete
the line-up Abner Rodrigues was invited to fit the bass place.
Stronger, united and different , HUNGER wants to share its vision about
the world and make good music without any label.
