Sounds Like
That churning feeling, deep within the pit of your stomach
Hungry Ghosts formed in 2007 after many a drunken occasion in a local York night club where James Browne would play acoustic in the (AHEM!!) VIP lounge.
James, originally from Ipswich, was planning on heading back to his hometown until Ant persuaded him to stay up north. Very soon after, the introduction of Adam and Clark spawned Hungry Ghosts.
Mid 2007, the band hit their local scene hard, but was soon hit back with a bizarre car theft which left the band without any musical instruments, a book of 1st class stamps and a jumper!
Through some well placed begging (cheers Alex) the band managed to borrow instruments from a number of places and went on to win a local BOTB competition only a week after the incident.
Back on track and bigger than ever, Hungry Ghosts have been described by NME as “Dark, Melodic, Odd-Ball Indie” and have been said to show hints of Bloc Party, Editors, Kate Bush and a hint of Disney (?!)
Their punchy riffs and catchy melodies have graced stages up and down the country including the main stage at the Big In Falkirk Festival, the BBC Introducing Stages of the Reading And Leeds Festivals, and have supported bands such as Supergrass, The Futureheads, The Levellers, Red Light Company, Them Is Me, Tiny Dancers and Captain.

REVIEWS:
''Dark, oddball, melodic Indie'' - NME (23 Aug 2008)
''...A great show to back up great tunes!'' - Matt Seymour, BBC Radio York(July 2008)
'‘The BBC Introducing Stage allowed me to check out York band Hungry Ghosts. I was extremely impressed. The front man reminded me a lot of Rhys Ifans, not only in appearance but also in some of his mannerisms on stage. That's a complement, I like the actor, and I like this band!'' - Joseph C. Seager, leedsmusicscene.net (August 2008)
''‘Spiky indie rock quartet from York who have been blazing a trail through the summer...'' - BBC Online
''...fine musicians with a full, tight sound, and clearly enjoying themselves...'' - Talk Magazine (April 2008)
