A revolving cast includes...
Wiggy Stardust
Mick Ronseal (does exactly what it says on the tin...sometimes)
Trevor Balder
Nobby Woodmansey
Mike Ghastly
Oil Slick
Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowie
Hunky Dory is a top notch, UK-based David Bowie tribute band, lovingly and faithfully recreating the classic period of his writing, from the late 1960's to the early 80's.
In fact, we are so convincing, that here's what Mike Garson (Bowie's very own keyboard-player extraordinaire) had to say to us about our recording of Heroes: "VERY NICE JOB ON HEROES. ALL THE BEST, MIKE"
With especially commissioned costumes and - unlike many acts - a fully live 6-piece line-up, we perform our tribute with a nod and a wink to the nodders and the winkers.
Having performed at corporate functions, birthdays, weddings, pubs and clubs, anniversaries and a summer festival, Hunky Dory are at home in any crowd, providing glittering party entertainment for a wide age range. Our preferred set is 2x45 minutes, with an interval to allow time for a costume change.
Stomp along with Ziggy Stardust and his Spiders from Mars to classic songs such as Space Oddity, The Jean Genie and Starman.
Then groove with The Thin White Duke to the sharp-suited pop of the later ‘70’s, such as Sound & Vision, Ashes to Ashes and Golden Years, before re-living the Serious Moonlight of the early ‘80’s, with hits like Let's Dance and China Girl.
Below is a clip of our performance at Music on the Hill festival:
Hi, New Track!! A modern remake of Elvis '68 comeback special. ~BABY WHAT YOU WANT ME TO DO~ Feel free to comment. I would appreciate the feedback. Thanks for the support Lou
Hello, I’m glad to let you know that I’ve made a solo album and it’s published by Manlay Recording. It’s a brianwilsonian record that mixes art-rock, avant-glam, pop-blues, disco-prog... There’s a fantastic collaboration by legendary pianist Mike Garson (David Bowie, Smashing Pumkins, Nine INch Nails...). You can order it at my space.
Hey you lot... I've just been listening to the tracks on here - Definitely the best tribute band I've heard. The version of heroes made me stop what I was doing and listen with moistness......Good on ya!
hello hello hunky dory. i hav 2 thank u 4 d accept. the cherryman is a happy man. ziggy stardust is 1 of my fav bowie songs n u aces played it wif brilliancy! in actual fact, i like it a tad more than the original cos its creamier and dreamier. yes indeed.
Thanks for the acceptance, great to have you on board and your page is certainly informative.
I am a Freelance Media Consultant and also write for a music web site called Bristol Rocks. A tribute section will be added to the web site, very soon. As I like most tribute bands I will be doing features and profiles on the tribute bands/artists who are willing to be interviewed by me.
I don't bite.... honest, and I'm not into belittling what you do as some journalists have a habit of doing. For most of you it is your living and as long as you do credit to the artist/band you pay tribute to and the audience love you then I'm happy to give you some positive coverage. PLUS, when you play Bristol would love to do a review or two as well. Just let me know when you have a gig in Bristol or the surrounding area and I will do my upmost to be there!
So if you are up for the challenge of being featured on the web site in the future then contact me.
All the best Kathryn
PS: Kacey is a nickname just in case you are wondering.
thanks for the kind words..... and nice one yourselves.... as our dear friend oscar w. once quothe: "talent borrows, genius steals" well spoken. hopefully see you in october?
Hello Boyzz. I've heard a rumour that you guys are playing at the Wheatsheaf, North Street, Leighton Buzzard on Friday 6th July at approx 9.30, free entry. Is this true???????????
Love Heroes;Rob your voice sounds the best I've heard for ages. Delicate guitar mixes in beautifully and the piano sounds heavenly. Can't wait to see you play live again ( now can I have a free ticket!)
hello!!
yes it's Mike Garson on the piano. He plays on one of the songs of my cd.
Of course I listened your tunes and I was very impressed, the vocals and all is very close to the real thing. I'd love to see you live in concert
best
Le Namor
