"Distorted and heavily treated, the drones on 'Howling Lands, Whispering Leaves' are almost unbearably harsh in places, especially on album opener 'Sun Starved Streams Still Flow'. Having got over the shock, the rest of the album reveals far more variety than previously suspected, the sounds softening as the album continues, so that the final track 'Ode To Jinx' is as soothing and Psychedelic, a far cry from the harsh industrial opener. Created by Ryan Emmett, working under the name Droopy Septum, this is an album that needs several plays before you realise just how good it is" --- Terrascope UK "dark and ominous noise with thunderous sporadic beats, followed by far away air raid sirens and gun shots. Talk about some scary shit. I would not want to be wherever this is supposed to be taking place, which is most likely Detroit in 5 years. Creatures' 20 minutes isn't entirely spent attempting to make you duck and cover, though. It's mixed with strange half-pretty drones that fuck with my brain. I'm never quite sure what I'm supposed to be feeling. Needless to say, totally cool." --- Anti-Gravity Bunny
"What makes Howling Lands different from other drone records is that it manages to evoke notions of nature and household, of wooden wand and lawnmower, of brackish waters and defective sockets all at the same time. And somehow still works." --- Foxy Digitalis (US)
"Black Ash Lotus is a darkly ambient, yet quite forceful and unsettling, even disturbing drone affair. These five tracks mostly offer steady low minimal noise bliss resulting in a somewhat alien, bitter and cold soundscape, although it within its boundaries actually covers a wide expanse of sonic terrain."
"...this is really not noise in the traditional sense but the thick lava flow of droning buzz and carefully layered gusts of hiss and screech most certainly nod in that direction. To my ears it sounds a bit like Sunroof! on valium, and if anyone wonder[s], I do consider such a comment to be a great compliment." --- Broken Face (Sweden)
"Created 'At a time of intense grief, misery, sadness, anger and loss of hope', Ryan Emmett has managed to evoke all these emotions on 'The Failure of Human Instinct', released under the name Hunted Creatures. Dark and brooding with no glimpse of light, the music still manages to offer a strange beauty within its distorted drones, an outpouring of emotion that has vulnerability hidden just below the surface. On 'Incapable of Flight', however it is hard to find any hope, the music a tightly coiled ball of despair that bites deep into your soul, whilst the slow death-march of 'Mercy at the Hands of the Lord' is a bleak and hopeless prayer to a distant God. Reading the sleeve notes, it is obvious that these pieces were created as a process of healing and understanding, the fact that Ryan has chosen to share them is testimony to his courage and the success of the process." --- Terrascope UK
"... like a desert landscape where everything has been bleached and burned by the sun for hundreds of years (or a few nuclear weapons)." --- Breaking World Records
