Growing up in the backwoods of Oregon, the Champion family history reads like an account of the settling of the West. Go back four generations and you'll find Champions homesteading along the banks of the Sandy River. Three generations ago they were drinking in Portland's darkest saloons and playing an active (though ambiguous) role in the city's notorious practice of shanghaiing young men out to sea. To amend for the sins of their fathers, the next generation of Champions actively fought against KKK activities in Oregon, and their children decided the family had had enough of big city life. The picked up and moved back to the country, settling in the towns even maps ignore. And the current generation? They're wanderers and story-tellers, poverty-stricken but happy.
These days, activities include: recording music; drinking rye; and...yeah, well that's about it.
