Hunter Roth, LSU Design
Shop Manager, received his BFA from LSU in 2000 with a concentration in
Sculpture. Roth uses his familiar images of skulls and skeletons as a visual
canvas for retelling past and present histories. His politically charged
cartoons and vibrant colors mock death while giving life at the same time.
Mexican traditions of the Day of the Dead, the subculture, and American history
or “histroy” at he calls it, heavily influence his art. Roth is multi talented
artist, a painter and drawer, sculptor, printmaker, and furniture maker. He also
collaborates with artist Charles Barbier, Clark Derbes and others. Roth was a
featured artist at the Houston ArtCar Museum in 2006 and a member of Baton Rouge
Gallery. He was awarded People Choice award in the 2008 Baton Rouge Art Car
Parade and 3rd place in the LSU School of Art 6th annual
Summer Invitational show.
