December 2005, the record label is officially established, and Huria! is its name. The intentional exclamation mark makes a point to give emphasis to the word, which means ‘free’ in Swahili; as free as the musicians under Huria! are allowed to be.To release the first record, Huria! selected a number
of bands around Medan that sounded just right for the label to put together a compilation album aptly-titled ‘Let’s Push Things Forward’, as a testament to (other)bands to get their shit together and create exciting music.In February 2006, this compilation was the first release from Huria! Records, in conjunction with Lost In A Melody 3, which was held at the GPH Kasuari Room.As the show commenced, all 100 CDs pressed for sale that night were sold out in a matter of hours. Further production of ‘Let’s Push Things Forward’ in the future is in the works to keep up with demand.July 2008, the second release from Huria! records from Jakarta's most promising post-punk band Amazing in Bed.
