Born and raised in the heart of Coatesville, Darius “Smitty Blanco” Allen realized that life wasn’t always easy. Even at a young age he remembers the struggle his family went through being raised only by a single parent. “I remember that we did a lot of moving around and moving in and out of my grandmother’s house. By doing that I was always changing schools and never seemed to feel like I had a permanent home. That was hard to deal with even at a young age because I saw the struggling my mother went through and the hurt it caused her” quotes Darius. That seemed to be just the beginning of what would turn out to be a life long struggle. Darius remembers at a young age a lot of artist’s that would later in life help him in his journey to becoming an artist himself. Some of the people who influenced him were Big Daddy Kane, L. L. Cool J., Cool C and Public Enemy just to name a few, but the one he truly has to give thanks to for sparking his interest in the rap game is his brother Brucie. “I remember staring out as a dancer for my brother’s group R2D2 at the age of 12 or 13(laughed Darius) that was one experience in life that I will never forget for many different reasons.” He became very interested in the rap game shortly after watching his brother’s group in the studio and at different local shows. “I liked the attention that they received and the fact that they were able to express themselves independently really interested me” Darius quoted with sincerity. A couple years later Darius became one of the original founders of a local group called Crooks N Villians. “This is the point in my life where I remember I became serious about being a rapper. Working with them (Crooks N Villians) was a great experience and helped get me on my toes. Everyone in the group was nice and we all worked well together. After a while with the group reality started to sink in and money became a necessity. Other in the group seemed to fall off and focus more on getting money. “In order to make things work we needed money, because without that we couldn’t go anywhere.” With that being said the street life called his name and him and is former artists decided to go their separate ways. “I got caught up like everyone else seemed to be getting caught up at the time. My focus for rappin was put to the back burner and my hunger for money became stronger, even though I never lost my passion for the rap game. What brought me back to reality was the fact that I was shot in the streets. It put a lot of things back into focus for me and made me realize what was really important to me.” Now at the ripe age of 25, Darius in back in the rap game and more focused then ever. He is now one of the CEO’s of a local label called Hustla Muzik Ent. Along with Jon Carter and Todd Hill (other CEO’s) Smitty Blanco is back and is one of the main artists on the label. “I feel that Hustla Muzik in a great move and I definitely see us going to the top! Keep a look out for us cause we are prepared this time to make a huge impact on the hip hop industry and we ain’t looking back!”
