WWW.HUON.ORG The Huon Valley Environment Centre is a not-for-profit, grassroots, volunteer run organisation that campaigns for the protection of Tasmania's threatened wild places.
Our office is in Huonville, in the Huon Valley, 40 minutes south of the capital of Tasmania, Hobart. We have an eco-shop, office space, information racks, social space, library and gardens.
We regularly hold fundraiser events such as movie and slide nights, music gigs, a yearly forest/free festival, and information forums.
We also have an active artists' group - The Black Sassy Collective, who hold exhibitions in Tasmania and the mainland to help highlight environmental issues in Tasmania. Click here to download a great 'What You Can Do' booklet.

Hello ~ thank you for being a friend of Moonwarriors. 16,000 dogs & cats are killed every day in the US, often by inhumane methods such as gassing or heart sticking. This cruel disposal of homeless & stray animals is paid for by your taxes. Sponsors of petitions promoting no-kill alternatives have shown that it would be more cost effective & humane to fund spay-neuter programs, adoption schemes & sanctuaries.
"What is unconscionable, abominable and outrageous is that animals, healthy and well-behaved, are being killed because someone says there are too many. That is something we do not accept. That is something we find intolerable" - Richard Avanzino, President, San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (1997)

Please accept this Cha Ching for your very own Willy's Sweet Shop. Please send a sweet back to me because the more we play, the more money that is raised for St. Jude Children's Hospital, a great charity that supports the needs of children with cancer.
"Be Here Now" Festival Scheduled for Starks, ME, August 14-16
Starks, Maine -- The hill at Harry Brown's Farm will come ALIVE
with music, giant puppets, belly dancing, and fire twirling three days during tie "Be Here Now" Festival this August.
Organizers hope to build on the success of “Harry Hoe-Down,” the first festival held on the site this season, where thousands of people braved the late June rains to bring to life Harry Brown's vision of “free people assembling freely.” An icon of Maine's counter-culture, Brown has been hosting festivals on his land for nineteen years to support efforts to legalize marijuana in Maine.
