BIO
HWY 5 is creating a new musical genre that is gaining the band the title "The New Outlaws of Country Music." With roots that lead from Waylon Jennings, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses and Motley Crue, the group's sound is a unique blend of country and rock--with a hard edge that excites a broad variety of audiences.
These five guys are not only band mates but best friends since their school days. The band formed in 2004 after three cheerleaders, who not only went to school with the guys but were close to each member, tragically died in a car accident at the dangerous intersection of Hwy 5 and 89 in Cabot, Arkansas. The name is more than just a road to the guys. It's a reminder of how fragile life is, and it gives them the courage to chase after their dreams.
HWY 5 has played all across the southern states, making a name for itself in country and southern rock music. The band released its first CD, "HWY 5," in 2004 and then "Livin' in the South" in 2005. A four-song EP with the band's debut single, "Country Ain't a Feelin'," was released in March 2008. The single reached 103 on the Music Row Charts. The band is currently working on an 11-song LP, which will put HWY 5 on the map throughout the United States.
The guys have been selling out local venues all over Little Rock, as well as many other cities. They know how to put on a show! The band generates a rock-and-roll energy that is said to be like no other, producing the music that appeals to all. Bridging the gap between country and rock, this band can play any venue and appeal to most every crowd!
