ENGLISH VERSION
HYDRA is a current band from France, that plays very Nineties-like Progressive heavy-metal. Its first album "Rock Experience" (1996) really had the right-suited title, as the styles that were visited during these eleven tracks proved to be much more varied as first expected. On top of a perfectly mastered duality between Progressive rock and AOR, it is noteworthy that exciting escapades towards jazz-tinted soul music are there to be heard ! There is no doubt that DREAM THEATER, QUEENSRYCHE or MAGELLAN lovers will be delighted. Last but not least, the instrumental quality serves perfectly the richness and the inventiveness of the compositions. In 2000 a new line-up takes place (Pascal LEMOINE and Sebastien DENARIE are on board), and the album In the Stars reaches out, really heavy prog oriented, this album is very wellcoming by all the fans.
That is Musea Parallèle that took the band again some eight years after its first album ! Goodbye to heavy-metal influences, this unexpected renaissance takes place as an acoustic duet featuring the vocalist Sébastien DENARIE and the guitarist Pascal LEMOINE. "This Famous Unknown" (2005) is a splendid concept-album based on the Remembrance duty. Not to be missed !
And now the brand new record is on stores, "The Special One", Pascal and Sebastien have made a popy rocky prog album, with funny stuff and catchy songs.

Le groupe Hydra a été formé en 1994 de la rencontre de différents musiciens savoyards, venant d univers différents (classique, jazz, rock), qui ont mis en commun leurs expériences et leurs goûts.
Après plusieurs changements de line-up en fonction des besoins et des obligations des membres, le groupe est aujourd hui un duo composé de Pascal Lemoine (guitare programmation, arrangements) et de Sébastien Dénarié (chant, paroles). Ces deux musiciens collaborent depuis plus de 15 ans sur différents projets, dans différents groupes, ce qui fait que la compréhension et la cohésion au sein du groupe sont vraiment assurées aujourd hui.

La musique :
Axées autour du guitariste compositeur Pascal Lemoine, les différentes formations qui se sont succédées ont toujours cherché à créer, lors de la composition et de l enregistrement de trois albums, une musique vivante, parlante et très imagée.
Le travail des arrangements et des voix a toujours été une des priorités du groupe, tout comme la volonté de sortir des sentiers battus musicaux (l éternel couplet-refrain-couplet-refrain..).
L utilisation de la langue anglaise s est aussi toujours imposée à tous, car elle donne une certaine universalité au message et ouvre davantage de portes avec la mondialisation grandissante.
Le premier album, Rock Experience, est un patchwork de musique rock fm qui faisait la part belle aux mélodies sophistiquées et aux soli instrumentaux efficaces.
Avec l arrivée de Sébastien Dénarié, Hydra s est orienté un peu plus vers une musique scénarisée, essayant de donner une osmose entre la musique et les thèmes abordés dans les textes. De cette collaboration est né le deuxième enregistrement, In The Stars, un disque beaucoup plus sombre, plus technique, avec un son plus lourd et des guitares plus présentes. La longueur des morceaux, les structures instrumentales et la tessiture vocale ont fait que cet album a été catalogué dans un style heavy progressif.
Depuis plus de cinq ans maintenant, Pascal et Sébastien ont poursuivi l aventure Hydra en abordant la musique et le chant d une façon encore plus imbriquée.
L écriture d une histoire dont la musique est le support, et l apurement du style et des instruments, ont abouti au nouvel album : This Famous Unknown. Afin de coller au texte, les guitares se sont faites acoustiques en majorité, les claviers plus effacés, et l ensemble des sonorités beaucoup plus intimes.
Il en résulte un album qui voyage entre la pop, le rock, le progressif, qui se veut avant tout simple d accès, tout en transportant l auditeur dans un monde conceptuel particulier ..
Le nouvel album The Special One est un mélange de toutes les influences du groupe qui varie entre rock pop et prog et qui saura plaire à toutes les personne qui aiment ces genres de musique !
