Rube & Skin, plus the frequent vocal contributions of Bavu, Krack, Chuck, Azeem, Grand Supreem, MYK, Tahiti, Mes the Jive Turkey and most recently Al Lyric
Hydro is the hub of production team/lab rats Rube and Skin. The
first release, Routine Insanity, dropped on Sound Evolution/Universal
in October of 2000 and garnered much love from URB, XLR8R, CMJ and
the like. RI is a soulful amalgam of Hip-Hop, Dub, and all relevant electronic
dancefloor goodness. Rooted in the classic dusted drum sound, Hydro
enlisted the talents of Headkrack, MYK, Soule, Cold Cris, Grand Supreem
and Skwod X and blended them with high caliber studio musicians. Bavu
Blakes, Chucky Sly and Azeem came into the fold and Hydro launched their
own Alternate Take Records to put out "grids/loops/intersections," as well
as the Central Standards (Rehash, Hydro, Com:plex, Rerog, Equipt &
Polyoctopus) and Southern Borders Soul Music (Strange Fruit Project,
Headkrack & The Are, Bavu Blakes, Nicknack, & Hydro) compilations.
Remixes have been done for the Bastard Jazz and icon.recordings labels
and assorted releases have dropped on Bomb Hip-Hop & Swedish Brandy, which will
be the home of the new full-length CD, Mixtape Mentality, to be released
in Spring of '06. Sign up for the Hydro e-letter at http://hydroponicsoundsystem.com or http://www.alt-take.com.

Sorry Hydroponic Sound System I'm not usually into the whole mass commenting thing, so apologies if this does come across like some impersonal spam...but I don't have time to make it too personalised sorry! Just in case you haven't checked it yet...here's my new video for Whoa (remix with PNC & Flowz). Directed by Shahir Daud with a tiny $6000 budget and a solid 7 months in post production!
