I've been interested in music from an early age and played instruments through my school years. I first started composing music on a C64, over 20 years ago, and then moved onto the Amiga when that was released, using a program called Sonix.
I became interested in producing dance music in 1989 after spending quite a lot of time in a local Club called The Havana, in Middlesbrough, where I networked with lots of people who were also interested in music. I became the music writing force behind a group, and played lots of gigs around the North East, including local Night Clubs, the Butterloggie events and Gateshead Garden Festival.
We released a White Label E.P. ourselves which featured 4 tracks written and produced by myself which received very good reviews in the local press. I continued to work with Martin Fox (the MC from the group) and we did live work together including playing live on Weir FM, a local dance radio station.
Over the years I have continued to enjoy writing music in my spare time and I am still influenced by music I hear in Night Clubs. Over the last 5 years I have become very interested in the production side of music, and it is only recently that I have started using a PC for making my music, after finally finding a piece of software I was comfortable in using. My new software has made it easier for me to reach a more professional sound and has increased my workflow considerably.
It is hard for me to be specific on music that has influenced, me as most of what I hear in Clubs and Bars is new, and I do have a very broad taste in music, but Dj's that I have enjoyed over the years would be, Judge Jules, Tall Paul, Eric Prydz, Tiefshwarz, Paul Woolford, Derick Carter, Jazzy 'M' to name a few.
I like music that has synth sounds, noises I haven't heard before, and I have a respect for anything well produced.
I have used my local Night Club, The Middlesbrough Empire as a testing ground for my tracks over the years which has really helped me learn what sounds good in a Club and what really gets a crowd going and keeps them going.
I have had support from the following DJ's, Oli Faulkner (Space resident Ibiza), The Broken Hooker DJ's (Polaroid/Together), Matt Cassar (Slinky), Burnski (Trapez), Gow (Trapez), Lee Pennington (Section 75), Denney (Mixmag Future Hero/Saved), Cliffy Burrows (Digitized Recordings), and K-OBA (Impropa Talent/Tharsis).
In recent times, I have worked for a software company called Brat Designs where I recorded and produced all of the sounds for a new Football game and have been asked to write some music for the game also.
I have had work signed to Suesse Records, HMSP Music and The Flame Recordings.
I have had my tracks 'Hand Control' and 'Adrenaline Downpour' featured on Future Music magazine's coverdisc.
My plans for the future are to continue writing music and to continually improve my skills at all levels of the process of completing a finished piece of music.
