Hypel is a wordsmith; a true lyricist, the way he plays on his words is brilliant. Rapping 5 years now he’s developed a “flow” that some would think he’s ahead of his time. “My Name is Hypel, this is my story,” his debut album is set to release in July.

This album is story telling at its finest; it’s suspenseful, clever, and intense all the way through. “MY NAME IS HYPEL, THIS IS MY STORY” is a movie, just close your eyes and you can see hypel’s words draw a picture for you. “The album is about how the decisions you make pave your future. I tried to take real life characteristics and make them into people we all can relate to, in terms in decision making as well as personality. I want Hypel to be an example for those who are going through what he’s going through in this story. This album is going to change people; I’m sure.”
The first single from the album “Runnin” has been receiving major buzz from the public, produced by Germany based music maker Gurkan. you can hear it on 89.9 Fridays on “Future Flava” hosted by Crystle between 10pm and 2am, as well as his MySpace (www.myspace.com/hypel). “Runnin” is crazy man, this is what I call the Climax of the album along with “Runnin pt2, Tisha, and 2nd Chance”, and it’s when the character Hypel shoots his friend incidentally and is on the run from the police (thus Runnin).” It’s nothing like I’ve ever heard; this song is real, raw, and hip hop.
Hypel’s 2nd single “Just Remember” is also catching people’s attention; hypel’s words in this song caress you as he talks about the loss of his girlfriend (character) “Sunshine.” “Just Remember” shows you the more vulnerable side of Hypel and we need that today. Rappers are too arrogant and egotistical nowadays. “I heard the music and I just [felt it]. The music was beautiful so I had to make sure the verses were as well.” The song is also getting air time on 89.9 Fridays.
