Through a Musician’s Wanted ad posted by Matthew Simmons (guitar/vox) in FFWD magazine the members of Hypnopilot were brought together in the Summer of 2002. Matthew’s ad caught the attention of Garwin Poff (drums) and Cory Pierce (bass) with his list of influential bands consisting of Black Sabbath, Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, and Tool. The three hit it off right away and began by playing covers of said bands. After about 6 months the band decided to find a vocalist. A few vocalists were tried, but the band eventually carried on as they were. Matthew had done vocals up until this point, and decided to carry on, despite wanting to just be the guitarist.
The band spent the Summer and Fall of 2003 writing and rehearsing original music and in November began gigging under the name Prescribed Burn. With the money saved after 10 months of gigging the band spent a weekend at Orbit A Studios in Calgary and recorded their first nine songs. It was at this time that the band also changed its name to Hypnopilot, which is a song title by Norwegian rock band Honcho. After another year of gigging the band had enough money to get 500 copies of its first recording pressed and in December 2005 the self titled debut album was complete. Summer of 2006 saw the band create a demo of 4 new songs with rented equipment in Garwin's basement which could be downloaded free on http://www.download.com/Hypnopilot. Though this link is now to last.fm Hypnopilot released their second album “Evergreen” on April 20, 2008, recorded in November 2007 at the same studio that gave birth to their self titled debut.

Thanks for the add! Artep is seeking a keyboard player worldwide. If interested, or if you know anyone who would fit, don't hesitate to contact one of us. Thanks for the support. Keep the black flames burning high! ~A
Yup, we played at the skateboard park with you, but our (former) lead guitarist did not show up so it was less than optimal. We have since gotten a new lead guitarist and a new bass player.
Much appreciate the good words, thanks! It's proving to be a bit of a challenge finding a singer cuz we don't just want a good singer we want a crazy frontman that's full of piss and vinegar just like us, lol. The drummer Angus said he remembers you guys and has actually played with you guys in the past when he was drumming for Halo.
STUDIO UPDATE 3.. DONE!!

Finaly, its done! We have recorded and mixed all the 13 songs, we are very exited bout the result. We will soon post one of the songs online, stay tuned.

Later

Honcho
Ha, A Good laugh with Death is a very, very old song. It's interesting the small group of people who listen to that material, I appreciate it. Come join up at www.theunravellingmusic.com, we're giving away some music to members. It will give you a good idea of the album sound.
