Kyuss, Black Flag, The Hard Ons, The Dwarves, Led Zeppelin and the mighty Ramones, to name but a few.
Sounds Like
HY TEST - A 12 gauge stage rampage, roaring down a dark hyway towards a wounded possum stranded in the middle of the road!! "
- Pete Kostic (Front end Loader, Regurgitator and The Hard Ons)
" If HY-TEST were called the shake ups and hailed from america they'd be really famous! all of you fools debating the death of rock n roll only have to hear hy-test to know that you have no idea what good rock n roll is!!!!! Rock and roll is alive but sick."
- Richie Lewis (Tumbleweed, Ritchie & The Creeps)
" I really like your cd it sounds like knuckle dragging super-ape on coffee destroying a condemned workshop - awesome!"
- Ray (The Hard Ons)
Wanna know who bands like The Hard Ons, The Mess Hall, Spazzys and COG and many others think is the shit?Wanna see a live show as exciting as high school booze up party? Wanna hear a band so raw, so energetic, so entertaining and so brutal kicking out the old school rock three chord mêlée so intently? The answer to all the above is HYTEST.
Hytest are three rock and roll undergraduates spearheading a barnstorming array of 70’s style wall to wall rock. Four to the floor pounding kick drum rhythms, a guitarist that looks like a reincarnated Johnny Ramone (and plays just as intently) and a bassist who will NOT let you stand still in the audience.
Songs like 'The Little song that could,'‘The Party Song’ and ‘Dirty Old Men (need loving too)’ , have already received decent spins on Triple J, FBI and PBS radio, also many community stations locally and internationally.
Hailing from Wollongong, the band spent more time in the last years on the road supporting both EP's than anywhere else. Yet somewhere amongst the copious touring, have managed to record demos for what will be their long awaited full length, which captures the essence of their incredible live show.
You guys are still rockin! I think I caught one of your first gigs years back in the Oxford. Things are looking good. (I bet your Dad doesn't even have to fix the mic falling down anymore either)
