What is a Mandala? It can be an essence/element...

...an intricate focus of meditation...

...a book of the Rig Veda...

...a sandpainting...

...a Celtic knot,

a medicine wheel,

or simply a circle or alternative dimension/world.

But that is not important right now...

...What is important is that I am a Brit/Swinging Londoner trapped in a Yank's body and (not-so) typical 'weirdo' who happens to live in the past AND the not-so small town of Bluefield, VA/WV.

The day I entered this brave new world (with such people in it) was October 31st, 1983. Because of that, my grandfather on my mother's side dubbed me 'Spook'...a nickname of which I used to not be fond for some odd reason, but have grown to appreciate over the years with not only my fascination with ghosts and the paranormal, but also my admittingly slightly obsessive fandom for Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased). Particularly and especially the original ITC series, though I will also always have a tiny place for the Vic and Bob remake, for that was what introduced me to the overall franchise.

As you can tell by my overall interests, favorites, 'heroes' (used rather loosely...more like people and characters I admire to varying extents), etcetera...I am certainly not your normal woman. As a matter of fact, whenever someone deems me 'weird' or a synomym there-of, I do my best to let them know that I actually consider that a compliment. Conformity is vastly overrated these days, to put it mildly.

Some favorite quotes of mine:

"If you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have joined." - Mike Pratt, as quoted by his son, Guy, in My Bass and Other Animals.

"You gotta learn to laugh...it's the way to true love." - John Travolta as Michael in Michael.

"Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent." - Sherlock Holmes in "A Case of Identity" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

"There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes." - Tom Baker as the Fourth Incarnation of Doctor Who in the "Robot" serial.

"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." - Albert Einstein

"Good detectives don't wash their hands...it wastes time, and film." - Foyle, a parody of The Professionals' Doyle, in The Comic Strip's Detectives On The Edge Of A Nervous Breakdown.

"The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with someone else when you're uncool." - Philip Seymour Hoffman as Lester Bangs in Almost Famous.

"I don't ask questions...I just have fun!" - Bugs Bunny

"I'm not your average man on the street...then again, I'm not your average man anywhere!" - John Inman as Mr. Humphries on the "The Sweet Smell of Success" episode of Are You Being Served?.

"I try to make everyone's day a little more surreal." - Calvin, Calvin and Hobbes.

"I watch a man shoot pool for an hour. If he misses more than one shot, I know I can beat him." - Luther Lassiter

"I know this defies the law of gravity...but I never studied law!" - Bugs Bunny

"I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." - Edgar Allan Poe

"Who can see the future? Those who create it!" - Strider Hiryu, victory quote from Marvel vs. Capcom.

"Support bacteria...they're the only culture some people have." - Steven Wright

"The butcher with the sharpest knife...has the warmest heart." - Number Six AND Number Two, the "A Change of Mind" episode of The Prisoner.

"Always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar Wilde

"I find it difficult to maintain grudges against those who want to kill me, don't you?" - James Spader as Alan Shore on the "Still Crazy After All These Years" episode of Boston Legal.

"My intentions are good, I use my intuition, it takes me for a ride. But I never understood other people's superstition...it seemed like suicide. And as I play the game of life, I try to make it better each and every day. And when I struggle in the night, the magic of the music seems to light the way. Intuition takes me there...intuition takes me everywhere." - John Lennon, "Intuition".

"Y'see, you can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself." - Ricky Nelson, "Garden Party".

"Be yourself, no matter what they say." - Sting/Gordon Sumner, "Englishman In New York".

"Discipline is a vehicle of joy." - Robert Fripp

"In one small pane of my window, the ocean fits." - Adrian Belew, in King Crimson's "Bude".

"Well, I'm preaching peace and harmony, the blessings of tranquility. Yet, I know when the time is right to strike." - Bob Dylan, "Moonlight".

"Don't get me wrong if I come and go like fashion...I might be great tomorrow, but hopeless yesterday!" - Chrissie Hynde, The Pretenders' "Don't Get Me Wrong".

"It comes down to reality...and it's fine with me, 'cause I've let it slide." - Billy Joel, "New York State of Mind".

"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you find you get what you need." - The Rolling Stones

"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." - The Beatles

"Nobody leaves this place without singing the blues." - Albert Collins in Adventures In Babysitting.

"Education never ends, Watson. It is a series of lessons, with the greatest for last." - Sherlock Holmes in "The Adventure of The Red Circle" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle...
..

Who I'd like to meet:

In addition to my 'heroes', whether or not possible, I am not opposed to meeting anyone who shares my crazy sense of humor, has an open mind about any of the things I find fascinating, and/or is just plain cool and groovy. ;)
