Well, music obviously. I'm a complete gagdet freak (comes from being a studio gear whore). I like reading, TV, football, cooking (when I actually get a chance), going out for good food (Thai, Chinese or Indian). Sleep is always good. Goin out for a drink or 6. Silence is most definatly golden at times as well.
Music
It changes all the time, the old favorites are: - Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Portishead, Massive Attack, Alicia Keys, Jurrasic 5, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, U2, REM, Radiohead, Zero 7, RHCP, and probably more I can't remember, but I always come back to at least one of these artists.
Artists I've worked with who's music I enjoyed include: - Steeple Chaser, Roddy Hart, Drive By Argument, Julia 13, Michael McGoldrick, Aidan O'Rourke, Eddi Reader, Karen Matheson, James Grant, Kieran Docherty, Moses Mayes, Kathleen MacInnes, The Nimmo Brothers, Paolo Nutini, William Douglas and the Wheel, sorry to anyone who I've forgotten here.
Other people I'm digging just now include: - Ray LaMontagne, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Audioslave, Idlewild, Razorlight, The Who, The Verve, The Tragically Hip, The Prodigy, Mindy Smith, KT Tunstall, Joss Stone, Josh Rouse, Jill Scott, James Brown, Jack Johnstone, Gomez, Jeff Buckley, Erykah Badu. It's a bit varied.
Movies
Not a big movie buff, but here goes: - Star Wars, Monty Python, HitchHikers Guide, Tarantino's works, 21 Grammes, LA Confidential, Hoodwinked, and anything either totally retarded ar that involves a bit of thought.
Television
Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, Trailer Park Boys, Monty Python, Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, Still Game, Chewin' The Fat, The Fast Show, Father Ted, oh, and the football (c'mon the Arsenal). And pretty much any sport.
Books
Terry Pratchet, Douglas Adams, Chuck Pahlaniuk, Roddy Doyle, James Ellroy, Michael Moore.
Heroes
Rudy van Gelder, George Martin, Tom Dowd, Arif Mardin, Daniel Lanois, Brain Eno, Rik Rubin, George Massenburg, Dave Rat, oh yeah, and Homer Simpson, Peter Griffin, and Bubbles.
I'm a sound engineer and producer originally from Glasgow, Scotland.
I've just emigrated to Winnipeg, Canada. I currently work for Soundart as a live engineer, and am also continuing to work as a freelance live mixer, and studio producer.
Due to my being a glorified computer operator, I've spent a lot of my time in a dark room, staring at a computer screen and listening to music in a way that only .05% of the population understands. It may have distorted my views on reality slightly. ;-) Those views may have been a little off to begin with.
Artists I've worked with include: - Paolo Nutini, Kanye West, The Weakerthans, Alexisonfire, Anti Flag, The Proclainmers, Dido, James Brown, Del Amitri, Hue and Cry, Horse, Eddi Reader, Drive By Argument, Roddy Hart, William Douglas and the Wheel, Capercailie, Karen Matheson, Michael McGoldrick, Aidan O'Rourke, Kathleen MacInnes, Sandy Meldrum, Julie Fowlis, James Grant, Old Blind Dogs, and many many more who I can't remember at the moment.
Em.... we've put a small teaser (not to be confused with a malteaser) up on our site as an exclusive track. We were told not to....buuuuutttt well who cares. : )
Hey Iain, how's it going? Thanks for being our friend! We just finished our demo so make sure to stop by and listen to the new tunes! Seeing as you're a producer it would be cool to get your feedback!! Have a good one!
Iain!!! The shout out was sincere....I didn't have to worry about a thing...I didn't have to come close to even straining my ear or my voice to hear....I don't know how you did it on the fly like that...but you really helped us pull that one off as we flew by the seat of our pants!!! thank you! Ivana.
