Sounds Like
Probably (and hopefully?) in the same light as Damien Rice, David Gray, Noel Gallagher, Ray LaMontagne
In the CD racks alongside Queens of the Stone Age, Metallica, Deftones and Nirvana was Snow Patrol, The Verve, Stereophonics and Oasis. The former bands gradually became over-ran by Damien Rice, Ray LaMontagne and David Gray. Playing acoustic tracks at home, but indie/metal/heavy rock depending on the band in practice rooms and on stage.
Something had to give.
Finding an audio cassette of the first 4-track recording produced years ago whilst back at school cleared things up. Brian Pandrich encouraged my creative streak for years, but after loosing touch, I was trying to emulate bands I didn't want to play the music of. Noel Jackson had put a bass guitar in my hand, then held sessions without sheet music so I had to play what I 'felt sounded right'. I liked it back then.
The electric guitars have been sold. Effects pedals and processors have gone. My pride + joy, a Marshall MG250DFX amp had hardly been used in reality. All that's left is an acoustic guitar, a small mixing desk, a condenser vocal mic, and an instrument mic.
As of December 2008 I picked up a new guitar, a Fender CD-220SCE. I hadn't played a guitar in two years for various reasons. I hope to start recording again.
Yeah well I persoanlly came about the solo thing simply as a result of getting sick of all the variables that bands include, just simple things like geting everyone together for practice drove me mad haha, now I only have to make sure I get myself to practice ect...
I do like aspect of the band environment but the solo thing really suits me on a professional level, I guess I just like the control :)
Wow, your in Japan now?! You really get around! Yep, I'll send you the link to the new album as soon as I can, I'm keen to hear what you think, it's been a massive project for me and I can't wait till everyone can hear it.
