I Am Absolute are a band hailing from the dreary wastes of South Wales, in and around the Cardiff Area. Formed from the ashes of several other bands you've probably never heard of, this band was, and still is, a product of a common ground in musical tastes, our beliefs and our inter-band friendships with one another. Mixing equal parts epic riffage and chanting with a prettier, melodic side, we combine various styles from a wide range of influences. The topical content of our songs tends to be less of the 'my ex girlfriend' type, and more political, idealogical and 'end-of-the-world'.
We aren't a bunch of 'cool' guys (in fact, we are probably the total opposite; Rhys still plays with Pogs) and we definately aren't a bunch of pretty boys (you're more likely to see us in National Geographic than Kerrang). Bottom line: We are an easy-going, friendly bunch of boys who take our music seriously but not ourselves.
A stout refusal to write what the masses want to hear, to change ourselves or our music to become something we aren't, just to further the goals of 'making it' sets us apart from the many local and distant bands, all vying for their 15 minutes. We love the music we write and enjoy playing it live to a crowd, nothing more. We also love a good clean mosh and can regularly be found bumping into each other rather unprofessionally at shows.
While never arrogant enough to force ourselves underground, which has become yet another form of elitism in the music scene of which we are a part, you can be sure 'this riff' or 'that melody' were never written with the aim to sell CDs or to get us in your favourite music rag. If on the (however unlikely) chance they do, then fine, but this is not, and never will be, our goal. We also aren't about to join any 'cliques', with which the local scene is plagued - we are happy to play with and befriend anyone who will have us, from hardcore to hip-hop!
So that just about does it for this long-winded bio! Feel free to give us a shout on here or out and about, our booking email is on the left there somewhere if you want us for a show. Let us know what you think of our tracks, the chaos that is us playing live, or just how annoyed you are that your mam keeps making you mow the lawn, it's all good!
Peace!
IAA.
