HUG PARTY Hug Party are a queer hip-hop hugging and rapping duo started in 2006. We sing about chubby girls and re-appropriated graffiti not bitches and bling. We don’t pretend to fit into hip hop culture and this means that we sing in our own accents and try to challenge the homophobia and sexism which sometimes accepted in mainstream hip hop. If rap karaoke were a real genre Hug Party would be at the top.
HANK BOBBIT
Hank Bobbit is a six 6' 2" tall, dark haired Butch with a dazzling duck tail. She is also the singer, guitarist and songwriter of Berlin-based garage rockabilly band "Lorena & The Bobbits". The band started up in 2001, after a friend had told Hank that she looked like a “lean, tall cowboy”. This and a strict, lifelong musical diet of Jerry Lee Lewis, Reverend Horton Heat and L7 had put the seed in her brain to start a Dyke Country Punk Band. After the first rehearsal it turned out that neither of the members was capable of playing country, so they simply decided on playing a mix of Rockabilly and 60ties Garage Punk with some true Cowboy lyrics thrown into the howling pit of noisy guitars and a manic drum kit.
