This page was set up to post my tribute to Coil, 'Fool Circle'. It is to my astonishment and pure delight that the track itself would not load up until the 13th November, the actual anniversary of Jhonn Balance's death.
The process of making the track occured when I instigated a ritual to channel his 'spirit' to make a song as tribute after his death. It was a profound time & one that brought me closer to Coil's work than ever before. I entered a trance like state and made the track in one night. There were moments when the track froze and looped at odd moments and crashed. Upon regaining what I heard, I tried to keep those moments in. It gelled together very quickly & took on a life of it's own. I must have been compelled by him in some form or other to post it at this time, completely without me knowing that it was this time last year that Jhon Balance tragically lost his life.
Synchronicity at it's finest I guess.
I've posted an edited version as the original is too long to be posted up & I wanted the quality of the recording, so I had to compromise. The piece after the end tone bursts into a distorted, high velocity, levels din of distorted beats and white noise that attacks your senses like a savage attack, even when you know it's coming. It could blow your speakers. The full version was available on Darkwinter.com's tribute album, 'FULL COLD MOON'. This is now no longer available, and if you want it, you may email me & I'll try to get a copy to you.
The track includes samples from Swan Lake, Night On Bare Mountain & The Saint. The drone is of an elephant slowed down. I feel a connection between this animal & Jhonn. It's an unusual mix, but one that simply fit into place far to easily than I'm used too! After tonight (13th November), I'm far from sceptical about what I've experienced & may I be so bold as to say that this is the last offering from Jhonn from beyond the ether. Take it as you like. I was touched by Jhonn from wherever he is & for my claim... I'm sure he wouldn't mind.
This is for you.
The rest of my work is mostly for my sound art course or music I'm making for library compilations. This is so I can fund my other projects. I will also vow to make new music that otherwise is not suited to simple popular culture or of any particular sub-culture either. This is pure indulgence.
