i AM... an individual who loves to dance, sing, write and live. Dancing is something I would love to get better at! A born citizen of San Francisco, Benjamin Hughes, a writer FIRST, began writing in the fall of 1999 after attending an open mic. Since then, he's never looked back. Consistently inconsistent and vice versa he loves to test boundaries.
Reciting his words on the same stages as M1 [Dead Prez], Talib Kweli, Nikki Giovanni, Sonia Sanchez, Patricia Smith, Mike McGee, Mo Browne, the band IsWhat!?, Susan Taylor, The Last Poets, acclaimed Carnegie Soprano Angela Brown, etc, etc. He has been an individual competitor in the 2003 and 2004 National Poetry Slam's.
Along with being a Corporate Training Director, Benjamin is also a freelance writer with contributions in poetic works, opinions and a published a chapbook, and has performed his work throughout the United States and Canada.
