T.R. McKotch is best known for his work as the founding facilitator of the "Feel the Beat! Play the Beat!" Hand Drum Workshop programs around the U.S.
T.R. also co-founded the Cosmic Groove Project with Big Leg Emma's, Charity Nuse. The band also included Bassist Steve "Frenchy" French (Big Leg Emma) and Percussionist Rhonda Harp. In addition to the Cosmic Groove Project, T.R. has been engaged in his usual panoply of musical projects. He recently released "T.R. McKotch Hand Drum Instructional Vol.1", which features Charity Nuse with voice overs and playing on one of the West African arrangements.
T.R. has also collaborated with Big Leg Emma's "Amanda & Charity" as the supporting percussionist for their many acoustic duo shows.
T.R. is currently a founding member of the "GAHU Drum Ensemble" along with Percussionist Rhonda Harp.
Performances and Projects:
1998- T.R. moved to New York City to join the progressive rock band TriPod, featuring bassist Clint Bahr and "Master-of-the-Reeds" Keith Gurland.
2003- T.R. performed with Rusted Root's Jim Donovan as a supporting member of Jim Donovan & the Blue Heron Drummers.
Recently- T.R. has partnered with Percussiont Rhonda Harp, to further the development of the "Feel the Beat! Play the Beat!" Hand Drum Workshops by
adding traditional song, flute and an array of percussive elements. In addition to the hand drum workshops, dancer Nicole Ten Eyck and T.R. have
developed a drum & dance program entitled "GAHU Beat: Music & Movement" which was presented during the 2007 summer Kids College at Jamestown Community College.
