    I don't believe in heroes. I do believe that in times of crisis, ordinary people can do extraordinary things. Whether or not we choose to celebrate them will always be a topic of debate. Why should we pin a medal on a cop that does his job, but chastise a child welfare worker for doing hers? My advice: Live your life as honorably as you can, let God (or whatever higher power you believe in) do the judging, and if you have children be their hero.
