At the ripe young age of 20 (something), Bay Area production magnate, My M.O. Productions, has no problem conjuring names of heavyweights he's already worked with in the biz; names like Ya Boy, Killa Tay, D.U.S.T. (Zion I), Tony Butcha, Killa Squad and Greenie to name several. In 2008 he teams up with long time friends and collaborators Planet Asia (a.k.a. King Medallions) and F.L.O. for their inaugural full length.
Planet Asia (a.k.a. King Medallions) has long been hailed as a torchbearer for the Golden Era of Rap. His music reflects the innovative, thought-provoking and sonically diverse styles reminiscent of gold chain-laden MCs of the 80s.
F.L.O. first appeared on the scene in '05 with his seminal 'World Views', but is more known for his achievements in some of the most heated hip hop battles of the last half decade. Mr. Ceza (Xplosive magaine) called him "One of the best freestylers in the world."
The joint venture, aptly named 'Planet F.L.O.' pairs more than just beats and voices; the trio continually channels the past with all feet planted firmly in the here and now. F.L.O.'s versatility is reminiscent of Big Boi from Outkast, orchestrating gritty vocab and heavily charged rhythms over entrancing beats. Witty lyricism and smart production entrench Planet F.L.O. as a remedy for modern ‘pop-hop' – this is street hop.
