"It is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth-and listen to the song of that siren, till she transforms us into beasts." -Patrick Henry

I'm kinda into a lot of things; I dig the styling of classic cars and I love wrenchin, upgrading or modifying them. My job is also something I enjoy; working on aircraft is somewhat unique, modifying them and being in on the R&D of the latest technology is a fun challenge. Other than cars, bikes and aircraft...I'm up for shooting, skiing, jumping off of tall stuff into water, mtn biking, wakeboarding, off-roading, backpacking/camping, fishing, river floating, good beer, napping, movies, xbox....
Music
classic rock, 80's rock, 90's alternative, some new rock, country, instrumental/acoustic...that covers a lot of different bands. Hopefully I'll be going to 311 Day 2008, I've seen deftones, atreyu, as I lay dying, 3 doors down, staind, dave matthews band, the blue man group(in Vegas), Tim & Faith, the STRAY CATS!! and ZZ Top; hopefully I get to see Social Distortion sometime soon.
Movies
Boondock Saints, Thank You for Smoking, Office Space, Tommy Boy, Crash, Blackhawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, The Patriot, American History X, X-men, Cars and 300.
Television
anything involving Jesse James or Chip Foose; House; Rob and Big...AND MOTO GP--GOOOO anyone that can get in front of Rossi, the 'man of the hour' (who, by the way, is not the points leader, yet again).
Books
Lt. Col Dave Grossman: "On Combat"; Loren Christensen: "Warriors"; Chuck Holton: "Bulletproof"; Tom Clancy, C.S. Lewis, John Piper, the Bible...
Heroes
anyone who's served in the military to protect us, who are separated from their family and life to keep the fight away from our homes; and to their families and friends that never knew when they said goodbye that it'd be the last time. I can't earn what you've given but I thank you by making the most of the opportunities I've been given.
The following is pretty ridiculous. It's a fantastic display of why it's important to have too much power available.
The following is my favorite Chris Rock instructional video. It is more favorite than Dave Chapelle's black white supremacist interview.
I've grown up here in central Ca as a somewhat typical country boy and mechanic/gearhead/fabricator; building go-karts, rockets, bmx jumps, forts and playing with the always entertaining element of fire. My hobbies demand some sort of skill, adrenaline and typically involve a high possibility of turning fatal.
Every now and then I've been known to lay on the sarcasm pretty thick; raised with two older brothers I'd say I'm pretty competetive, I dislike not being able to improve at something; to me, it's fun to be knowledgeable in random stuff, which explains my wanting to read(yes, I know how to do that); I would be nowhere without the guidance and provision that God has given me through the circumstances that I've seen...your entire life actually does go through your mind when you're facing death. The grim reaper tried to get me but I asked him to please leave me alone for now or I'd take his scythe away...
Who I'd like to meet: pretty much anyone, it's kinda fun meeting random people.
"Oh no! Guns kill people!" Seriously? Then spoons must be held responsible for making Rosie O'Donnell fat.
Consider this: it's not the law abiding citizens that own firearms that use them in crimes against other law abiding citizens. A majority of violent crimes committed with guns are 1. by people with a previous criminal record, who 2. have the gun illegally and use it against 3. another criminal. The next largest statistic is number 1. and 2. committed against an un-armed, innocent, defenseless civilian(like a sheep attacked by a wolf). Tell me, why is it bad to own firearms and know how to use them safely and responsibly? Honestly, I've yet to hear a legitimate argument against this.
People with no regard for human life will murder people whether they have a gun or not; it's already illegal to murder, if they're breaking that law what says they're going to follow the gun laws?! So, how are more firearms restrictions going to help 'stop the violence'?!
Here are some pictures from work; these are a few of the types of ag aircraft that I get to work on. We do everything from routine service to major repair and alterations, including a fair amount of one-off fabrication. The most fun thing about the job is that we address all kinds of different needs and have jobsites all over the valley, with some out of state. So there's always a change of scenery and something different to do; we cover electronics, GPS guidance systems, hydraulics, mechanical, tube frames, sheetmetal, turbine engines and some radial engines. With tube frames and a ton of power, these things are built like desert race trucks; and the crazy guys climb in them and fly 150 mph 10 feet off the ground(sometimes that's a little too high, though)
i hear we are about to celebrate the day the stork got drunk/stoned/beaten by his bookie and decided to only fly half way to his target destination and gave you to the wrong parents (as you can tell, what starts bad usually ends badly…). well congrats on making it another year anyway. try not to end it early this time, will ya?
