Band MembersTim Ritchie is the only member of I Am Tim. He is reminded of the quiet nobility of solitary confinement with a guitar (or two). Also he shall henceforth refer to his bedroom as the studio.
InfluencesI hate this bit. What musicians do you hope you even nearly resemble. I used to have to explain a band with metal/jaz/classical/hip hop/drum and bass/disco/doomcore (whatever that means) stylings. people used to say: "What like the Scissor Sisters?" HELL NO!

I like lots. I guess minimalist easy listening types such as Simon Jeffes and The Peguin Cafe Orchestra have the greatest impact on this stuff. But I also really like...

Air, Kings of convienience, Mars Volta, The Spinners, The Corries, The Pogues, Explosions in the Sky, Sigor Ros, Nick Drake, Radiohead, Richard Swift, Diefenbaker, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Crosby Stills and Nash, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Faithless, The dillinger escape plan, The Haunted, Venitian snares, Aphex Twin, Bob Dylan, The Soggy Bottom Boys, Tom Lehrer, Michael Jackson, The locust, Frogpocket, The pixies, Ghostrider, evil nine, Scratch Perverts, Thumpermonkey, Arlo Guthrie and his dad, Ani Difranco particularly with Utah Philips, Suzanne Vega, The Deftones, Jurrassic 5, Scroobious Pip, Pharcyde, The Specials, Danny Elfman, the sountrack to a series of unfortunate events, Findel, Big Jim, Paul Simon, Johnny Cash, Refused, The Busters, Buddy Holly, Squarepusher, They Might Be Giants, Cat stevens, Handsome Boy Modelling School and many more.

I renounce Mike Skinner and all his works.

Sounds LikeA clever witticism demonstrating a contempt for the branding of creativity whilst displaying a deep rooted, childish desire for attention.

   About I Am Tim

'I am Tim' is the impoverished brain child of one man, thats him over there in the band members section. The name derived from the artist christian name was first used when his good mate Richard Swift couldn't get hold of him to put him on a flyer and went with the first thing that came to hand. Good story huh?

Tim began His musical carreer as a bassoonist but very quickly lost interest and took up the bass guitar as a far sexier option. His first popular music and gigging experiences were in 1998 with a band named Fuzzywig. A pretty poor covers band in the Penrith area of the lake district. This ended acrimoniously as most teenage bands do, however a brief side project allowed Tim to play Greenday and christmas songs to pensioners. (less said...)

Tim was then brought on as a substitute in the local function band Fear Of Flying with musicians a good twenty years his senior. It was with this outfit that he truly cut his teeth and began to develop his dexterity and unering timing. (you whish) He still has fond memories of playing for a Mencap charity shindig (boy those kids can dance) and the band outing to see Blondie.

During his copious university days Tim became gently interested in extremely loud rock music mainly through the people he met by joining the band eskimo pi (The band that made the Marquee, Norwich what it is today- I don't care what anyone says). In true Spinal Tap form this band went through a series of drummers and suffered from a lack of coherent organisation. Tim claims that this was the most enjoyable stage of his musical development even though he was told that he went through it with "a face like a slapped arse" [ibid] He felt immensly privellidged to 'rock' with the extrodinary tallents of Vanessa Hawes, Dan Bleksley (Now Diefenbaker) and of course Mick Paddy Lucey esq.

During this time in order to keep his funky, pop hand in Tim also joined The Adventures Of Bubbaloo. This afforded him the opportunity of breaking the Trowse music scene which culminated in the less than rock and roll White Horse performance where the arteests were threatened with legal action following a dispute over pay. Tim will always be grateful for the support he received that night from an Ipswich hairdresser (pictured).

MJ

After the Norwich phenomenon that was Eskimo Pi eventually crumbled through the need to do PHDs or have babys, and the fans tribute act Kill The Dead became much more exciting, Tim went on to co-found the short lived instrumental spazz group Sqealing Meat with Men'l Martin Peacher. The band managed to rope in the mad drum skills of Joe Hancy and they constructed some of the most imaginative and stupid music ever to hit the Norwich scene, with 30 second stunners like 'flying saucer car alarm' and 'Sexy women like funky house music so lets play some.'

As this band gradually faded Tim decided to give up the dream of rock stardom and follow the obvious career path, becoming a teacher. During his training he kept up his music by playing comic folk sets at the Queen Charlotte, Norwich where he met, and briefly became entangled with, the visionary Richard Swift. The two eventually conned the Landlord into giving them free drink by forming a house band, Under the Covers. A band that had more gigs than practises, although this didn't come to bare on there tight, some said awe inspiring 20 minute performances of Sultans of swing.

After returning to the lakes for a while Tim is back in the fine city. He is enjoying playing around places and is currently involved in a folk battle with Slightly Offensive Steve. Catch you about duders.

IF YOU HAVE ACTUALLY BOTHERED TO READ THROUGH THIS NONSENSE I AM TIM WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU AND BID YOU GOOD DAY.

oh that's a shame... thanks for trying though!!

to be honest it's probably best you didn't come; it was just me (josh) playing that night. Phil had flu and Ellie quit Takeda the night before.

But we are all sorted for our next gig at the music house on the 11th of december so if you're in town... :p

regards, josh.

Finally!

I've been working on my first vinyl for two years now, but it's here! 5 little songs on a 7" called Sur La Route, with guest vocals of Julien Pras (Calc) and David Lespes (Pull) recorded in Bordeaux. You can listen to a few songs in my player, but for only 5 euros you can get a copy here: http:http://www.snowstar.nl/index.php?s=store. Thanks for the support!

Cheers man, means alot...was my first propper gig last night...as was Ians. Yea Hallins is actually a 5 Piece, with a second vocalist, drummer and a bit of synth but we arent quite ready for the road yet so me and Ian decided we shouldnt play under that name. As for the background tis my own art work, slightly to proud of it to appear anything but up myself haha. Love the Chav Song!! Thanks for adding the comedy last night, had you not played the eve would definately have missed it!
