This is Rev. Sherri preaching at Greenfield Baptist Church in Hammond, LA. My text was Acts 2:42-47. My topic was on the importance of fellowship. This is a 30-minute sermon that is divided into three parts. Listen and be blessed.
My number 1 gospel music radio station. Though I no longer live in the station's listening audience range, I'm glad I stumbled upon the station's Web site.

I am who I am because of the people who surround me with their love, patience and stability. Those people are my mother, Margaret; and grandparents, Charlie and Viola Sims and Mae Brown.
Because of them I am free to be me. My prayer is that everyone who comes to this page will experience the love and stability from family as I have.
I am a native of Hammond, Louisiana. I am the daughter of Rev. Herbert Brown Jr. and Margaret Brown; the sister of Kevin, Ryan, Derrick and Efrem; and the granddaughter of Charlie and Viola Sims, and Herbert Brown Sr. and Mae F. Brown.
I am a 1983 Hammond High School graduate. I received my bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1987 and my master’s degree in adult education from the University of Wisconsin.
After graduating from Southeastern, I headed west to San Francisco, Calif., where I officially began my career as a journalist. The 1989 earthquake that shook the Bay Area sent me back to Hammond in 1990. I would become the first black reporter at the Hammond Daily Star, where I worked as a police reporter and education reporter from 1990 to 1995.
Before heading to Racine, Wisconsin in 1998, I was a teacher at Hammond Eastside Upper School. That was not my calling at all.
I headed to Wisconsin with the intention of leaving after a two-week vacation. God had a different plan and worked it out for her good that I would be hired at The Journal Times as the education reporter. Three years later, I became the city editor, the first black woman to do so in Racine and in Lee Enterprises, which owns the newspaper.
In May 2004, I became the managing editor of The Town Talk in Alexandria, La. I was the first black to hold a top managerial newsroom position.
In November 2006, God released me from my duties at The Town Talk and rewarded me with the ownership of my own bi-monthly newspaper, “The Light,” which published its first issue Feb. 9, 2007. I am grateful and excited about this new journey God has set me on.
Although I am proud and thankful for my accomplishments, I realize it’s only temporary. I don't want people to remember that I've won national journalism awards and has been named among the best in the industry. I do want people to know I live each day to please Jesus Christ, and Him alone.
Exactly one year before coming to Alexandria,La., I accepted my call to the ministry and preached my first sermon at Zoe Outreach Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Melvin D. Hargrove. On Feb. 23, 2008 I was ordained at St. Matthew Baptist Church through a council established by Dr. Joe S. Green.
Currently, I am a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church in Boyce, La. under the leadership of Dr. Joe S. Green.
Currently, I am in the process of establishing my own ministry, "Uniquely His," a ministry that will encourage people to be who God has made them to be. Each of us have unique qualities and gifts that no one else can beat us doing.
We are all fearfully and wonderfully made. We need each other to survive.
