Stop Me from Falling is the second solo release on Northern Sun Recordings from Lancashire based singer/songwriter Ian Bailey. The album was recorded over a two year period at the Voodoo Rooms, England with producer and long time friend and collaborator, Gary Hall. It features 13 original songs dealing with love, loss, hope and discovery.
From the opening bars of the raw and ragged, slide guitar driven ‘One Step Ahead of The Blues’ to the closing bars of the madrigal ‘Late Night Lament’ (a mournful observation on mortality), Bailey takes the listener with him on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and musical diversity.
The album includes many tender moments such as the horn laden balladry of the title track, the gently whispered vocal of ‘Listen Closely’ and the string drenched ‘Don’t Throw it All Away’, which are punctuated at regular intervals by the rampaging rumbles of songs like ‘The Big Lie’, ’Satellite’ and the rowdy carnival atmosphere of the penultimate track, ‘Walk Away’.
Once again recorded with the same cutting crew that graced Bailey’s critically acclaimed 2005 debut, the musical, spiritual and lyrical infusion of Stop Me from Falling is evident from the moment the ride begins...
