Ian Briedis - Guitar and Vocals
Declan Stewart - Drums
Influences
Where to start? In childhood - any proper rock 'n' roll or anything by the Beatles. Otherwise: Elvis Costello, Radiohead, Muse, Depeche Mode , Pink Floyd, Beck, dEUS, Supergrass, Blur, Jonny Cash, etc, etc, etc... many, many others.
IAN BRIEDIS has been taking his unique song-writing to audiences around the North-East for several years. With an intense, abrasive, acoustic style, he is difficult to pigeon-hole, although some have used the phrase ‘punk-folk’. Despite sighting influences including early Rock and Roll, Elvis Costello, Pink Floyd, Jonny Cash and Radiohead, Ian admits his sound mostly originates from, “being a bit ham-fisted with guitars.”
His debut album ASYLUM is set for release on 29th November (available on iTunes and Napster). Playing as a stream of consciousness of sorts, it explores some of the darker and more eccentric aspects of human thinking - from the trivial to the extreme. Using a stripped-back, intimate sound, some strong melody, and haunting backing vocals, Asylum aims to get inside your head and stay there.
Asylum was recorded and mixed at Base HQ Studios (Newcastle-Upon-Tyne) with Sound Engineer, Richard McCoull, and Mastered by Jon Astley at Close To The Edge Mastering (Twickenham).
