Hello. I am Ian. I make music using different instruments - whatever feels right at the time really. I also run the Home Normal, Nomadic Kids Republic and Tokyo Droning labels, make my own instruments, play around with electronics, read comics, live between Tokyo and London, paint, photography, collecting sticks and stones and generally being a bit of a wide-eyed innocent. I am lucky enough to be on some super nice and supportive labels, teach to junior and high school boys and am considering going into either nursing for elderly people or youth work whenever I decide I have had enough of teaching. I will continue to make and release music in various formats and run my labels no matter what as they are my babies. Hope you enjoy the music.
The latest addition to Ian Hawgood's growing body of work, 'The Great Allure'. A very personal and heartfelt album, 'The Great Allure' amasses six passionate movements into a tribute to the memories of traveling by train. Inverted pianos wrapped in a blanket of distant fog seen peering through a train window dripping with wiped away condensation. Forehead against glass with a melancholy gaze towards the passing landscape. Broken voice and hand claps layer subtle nods to Reich.
