Hi, thanks for dropping in. I grew up in England on the border of Kent and South East London. I started playing the guitar when I was eight but had tinkered on the piano for a few years before that. I was in my first band at age ten and continued playing in various bands throughout school and my teens. For a short while early on I also played drums but soon got back to concentrating on the guitar. The singing thing came about mainly due to me being the only one with a microphone and the will to give it a go. From my teens to my mid-twenties, I played the London pub and club circuit in both original and cover bands.
At the end of the eighties I was getting the urge to travel and had heard many good things about the Melbourne music scene. My first visit in ‘89 was to be the first of several before finally settling here permanently in ‘95, performing with bands and duos in both Melbourne and the UK along the way.
Following a two-year stint on the Melbourne cover-band circuit and the birth of my first daughter, I did my first solo gig. Now about twelve years on and many, many gigs later, I’m still gigging every weekend! I’ve also been teaching guitar at my daughter’s school for nearly five years, which is now three days a week.
My first solo CD, ‘Under the Skies’, released in 2005 was recorded at home and is available at my gigs. There’s another one on the way, so watch this space!
