Influences
IAN found his own style of writing and singing, but was strongly influenced by YellowCard, Coldplay, Matchbox 20, 3 Doors Down, Goo Goo Dolls, 311, Hoobastank, Lenny Kravitz, John Mayer, Icabus, Hootie and the Blowfish. IAN's favorite band of all, was Green Day.
Sounds Like
IAN's sound is all IAN's.
His CD, "Something To Remember", is classified as Contemporary Folk, because it is just IAN, his voice, and his acoustic guitar. 7 Originals and 1 cover (Love Song)
IAN is a self taught guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, since age 12.
He created several electric guitar compositions by age 15, with good friend and drummer, Aaron Bronson.
By age 19, IAN had written over 3 dozen complete songs with lyrics.
He first professionally recorded and copyrighted his original music in 2004.
IAN played lead guitar and vocals with Crimson Sunset, a Blue Springs-based band, in 2004 (other members: Pat Kost, Andrew Smith, Mike Alberelli, and Andrew Cook) This band later changed it’s name to Crimson.
IAN began playing solo acoustic guitar shows as well, in local Kansas City Metro area clubs on Open-mic nights in 2004.
By late summer, 2004, IAN had also put together his own band, with 3 members of Crimson.
In October 2004, both bands had several shows lined up in local clubs around the Kansas City area, and were both gaining popularity and a great crowd following.
In late November 2004, IAN was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer and began undergoing aggressive treatment at Kansas University Medical Center, under the direction of Dr. Einhorn, the same physician who treated Lance Armstrong.
In March 2005, just four months later, Testicular Cancer took IAN’s life. --- IAN’s Cd "Something To Remember" is now being sold to support Testicular Cancer Awareness.
