I'm just another jobbing musician, except I formed some rather more bizarre ways of making a living;
Just finished a recording, with Keane, playing musical saw, on their new album 'Perfect Symmetry'. I appear quite prominently, on the track 'Love is the End'. See the a YouTube link below.
Poles Apart Stilts co Ltd is the Stilt walking, live music band that I formed in 2007. It comprises banjo, sax, percussion and sousaphone, all on stilts, with 3 part vocal harmonies. We used to play trad jazz, but now mainly play disco, rock 'n' roll, dance, soul etc... and have performed all over the world.
Fretful Federation Mandolin Orchestra is a plucked orchestra that I started in 1994, I think. This whim has now become a 25-30 strong plucked orchestra of mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos, mandobasses (yes, 2 of them) that meets once a week at St George's Church, St Georges Road, Kemptown, Brighton, UK, at 7.30pm to rehearse and play through orchestral plucked music; classical, baroque concertos, Music Hall, Songs (with me singing and playing musical saw), and contemporary composers.
As well as these two passions I play sousaphone, banjo, mandolin, mandocello, rock and classical guitar, Renaissance Lute, spoons, bones and Ukulele.
Here's me playing musical saw, on Keane's track 'Love is the End', from the album 'Perfect Symmetry'. This is a film of me playing with them, in November 2008, at the Little Noise Sessions, at the Union Chapel, London.
