Ian Wilson is a keyboard-wielding singer-songwriter transplanted from Boston to Chicago. Originally trained in jazz, showtunes, and classical music, Ian fell prey to girl rock and internet radio, and eventually Virginia Woolf novels and trashy gay romance films. On various occurrences of his birthday, Martha Stewart has gone to jail, Jacques Derrida has died, and the Great Chicago Fire has started. He loves Derrida, Chicago, and sometimes fire, but is indifferent to Stewart and never likes jail. On airplanes he prefers the window seat and on road trips he prefers I-90, listening to alt-rock women of the 1990s..."and the other one's playing a piano."
Ian is also one-sixth of Chicago's favorite orchestral-pop sextet, Canasta.

"Wilson's clear mastery of piano composition and sharp songwriting is reminiscent of his early classically-deviant influences"
--EDGE Chicago
"...the debut of someone who I'd definitely like to hear more from...a welcome voice in the queer music scene and a positive sign of what's to come from Wilson"
--The Bilerico Project
"skillful piano playing over a deeply personal lyrical presentation...hauntingly moving"
--Illinois Entertainer
"I'm sure you have better things to do with your time..."
--Mom

Hate websites but love to read? I have something for you: ..
See you on the 10th, doll! Also, you must -MUST- put up Resurrection Ship. There's a deep, nerdy need for me to hear this song. (It's pretty rare that I find anyone as nerdy as I am =D )
Thanks for the tip Ian - Thai is one of my FAVE foods!! I am writing it down and hopefully I can get the guys to come with me. ;) Have you played Art Bar before?
Hey Ian and thanks so much for the add - I really am digging your tunes!! You will totally like Art Bar and if I was in town I would come out to see you. The funny thing is that I will be playing in Chicago that night - ha ha!! We'll be swapping cities. ;)
I'll be in Evanston/Wilmette for LilFest (myspace. com/lilfest) in a week. I'll help start the whole thing off with a show at Bills Blues on 9/11. Chicago's Michi will be my violin. Hope to see you and your friends there.
Hey Ian! Well, since you kindly invited me to your show, I must invite you to mine. I'll be at Uncommon Ground this Sunday (24th) at 9pm. Tuesday I'll be at Fitzgeralds (in the burbs) but Rock out at your show. We will catch up soon.
We really appreciate the add, and we hope that you are enjoying our songs. You might also like the mellow indie-folk of Samuel’s other band called “Of The Isles” [myspace. com/oftheisles]. Thanks again, and have a lovely summer.
